The last time I bought aventus was 2015-17 and I still have those bottles.

I did purchase one from costco last year but it was so fleeting in longevity (and did smell a kinda different from what I have) I returned it.

Are the 2024 bottles a step up compared to 2023 or do they perform similar to 2023?

Perfume does go bad, so it probably just depends when the bottle was made.

I bought in 2023 and had the same experience compared to a prior bottle. From reviews I've read online, this issue isn't just isolated to Costco. Creed sold to new owners twice recently, which may have something to do with the lower quality/higher price in search of ROI.

Honestly, batch variations in smell and performance goes even further back. Not surprising for a brand that fabricated it's history and didn't credit perfumers. Impressive and disappointing at the same time that they got rich off of such business practices.

Not at all. I'm not a Costco fan boy and do not believe everything that Costco puts out there is the best price much less is necessary (I see the Costco shoppers walking around with flashlights as big as a baseball bat and I'm thinking there is no way you are ever going to use that much less good luck storing it, but that $24.99 price tag drew you in!) but the Costco buyers are highly incentivized and scrutinized on the quality of their products and the overall value. If they were bringing in garbage scents, it wouldn't be tolerated by the Costco shoppers and the senior leadership. You might check what you bought against what Sophora or Macys or … samples smell like. I'm guessing it's just as good.
