It's disappointing that they are watering down the Corelle brand by putting it on stoneware. There's no way this is as durable as actual Corelle products.

I owned the light blue version of this, bought like 8 services, the big plates chip Very easily at the edges. Within a month I'd chipped 3, all of them right at the upturned rim, after about 3 months and many more chips I switched to bone porcelain and haven't chipped 1 in six months. Interestingly enough this doesn't include any of the dinner plates, wonder if they discontinued them because they realized they are flawed design?

I was just scrolling down to check if this was simple stoneware or real Corelle ware but I think you kinda confirmed what was obvious (though I was hoping it wasn't). I have a stoneware set that was pretty (and was a 'great' sale) but is now chipped to all hells after 5 years of use and we are not hard on it by any means. My next set needs to be something more solid so it will last/stay around.

This isn't even a good set. The dishes are "meal bowls". Wtf is a meal bowl?? I have Corelle dishes that I bought at Target in 1987. Still use them every day. One bowl has a chip in the lip but others look as good as day one. Some of the pieces have been dropped and they literally bounce off the tile floor. They may not be the best looking dishes but I can't bring myself to buying something else that will last 3 years.

So what was the actual material they used in Corelle brand before they start stoneware ?

I believe I saw the dinner plates offered as a separate set. I wanted these when I first heard that Corelle was coming out with stoneware. But after doing a small amount of research, I determined that they would not be as durable as other Corelle dinnerware sets. I decided that I would either buy some Fiesta dinnerware or Danby stoneware.

I have an old Corelle set (square plates) that were Made in USA. I checked this one out on Amazon, since Walmart's listing doesn't say where it's made... it's Made in China, not the USA.

FYI, here are 2 reviews on Amazon that discuss where the dinnerware is made:

Made in China
By Pseudorandom in the United States on April 4, 2022…This is just the usual made in China pottery sold under the brand. Good thing Amazon has free returns. nice color, fragile and not made in the USA

nice color, fragile and not made in the USA
By Abrahm Scully in the United States on September 21, 2022Lovely color and dish sizes.
The plates are shaped in a way that makes them hard to use in some dish racks like my OXO folding one.
The silicone lids of the cups don't quite fit right, but you can get them to stay if you are careful.
2023/04/03 update: I've lost one plate and one bowl to chipping. It doesn't take much and these things just lose parts of themselves. I bought corelle because I thought they were made in the USA and I thought they were durable. These dishes aren't either of those things. see less
