I thought Funko was in dire straights since no one wanted to buy little vinyl dolls, and they had no choice but to send their inventory to the landfill....

I heard the same thing, I'm surprised we're still getting so many deals for these.

Funko Pops are still popular (even if not at the height they were at one time). Funko just got in over their heads mass producing for almost any movie/show that came out. That left them with a lot of inventory (especially for IPs that ended up not doing well) they couldn't move. There may always be a market, unlike past fads like Beanie Babies, because they are great for collectors of certain fandoms to collect, especially those IPs that don't have a lot of merchandise or what merchandise there is made is difficult to get or expensive. Funko just got too big and, as what happens to a lot of things that become collectible, they overly mass produced too many of their items. But they aren't at the point of going out of business. They just needed to restructure.

This and the fact that we're no longer stuck in quarantine with excess spending money. I spent a lot of time during the pandemic in online queues, doing online trades, and racing to releases. My collection went from a couple hundred to a couple thousand real quick but now the supply is higher than the demand and it's no longer as fun.
