Good price but the retail is a joke. Its not a $60 hammer. $24.40 on anazon rite now and i think its like $32 in store at lowes. I got this exact hammer for $8 on clearance at lowes awhile back but obviously that price cant be replicated

short answer - fiberglass hammers are for hanging pictures - this one is top notch beast.

Fiberglass hammers are low end. yes this fiskars has everything the top end hammers have. that said a homeowner who rarely uses a hammer would have no problems with a fiberglass one. higher end hammers have better anti vibration - the low end hammers don't supress vibrations which does long term damage to your wrist.

side note to self - MUST RESIST THE SLICKDEAL EFFECT - my DeWalt is just as good.

Ordered this last time it was featured on SD. No shipping notification for 4 weeks so I cancelled the order.

Not another one, I have more hammers that I own than the nails I have left to sink in.

A right tool in the right hands makes all the difference. I built/renovated my entire 1900 sqft basement with a $9 fiberglass hammer and that was 15yrs ago and the basement is still standing, and I still have that hammer. I am sure this Fiskars is equally or better than my fiberglass hammer. However, the comments from the people who have hardly sunk a few nails in their lives, is just unacceptable.

Unfortunately, I already have a hammer (handed down from grandpa) and it'll last forever.

Just do it… I got the 13$ 15.5'' 20oz from Al's a few weeks back, it's keeping my Fatmax company quite well. Great for putting in 1.25'' fencing staples… but man you start to feel the extra oz's around post 35 😂

Thanks op. This is a good hammer and a good deal for $15 shipped (no tax in Pa.). I've been waiting for a good deal on a smooth faced hammer.

Personally, I consider milled face hammers as a specialty tool for professional framers and demolition. The milled face is made to grip the wood when hammering studs and joists into place before nailing them.

A smooth faced hammer is a better choice and more useful for most people, tradesmen and homeowners. A couple of advantages of a smooth face are: it won't mar wood or rip open your fingers if you miss, can be used to remove dents, dings or straighten metal, etc.

Do professional contractors use this hammer? I bought the Fiskars axe with the plastic handle, and it's ok for occasional camping, but I wouldn't consider it a professional tool. This hammer has a steel handle, so I'm on the fence.

For comparison on sale now:

Craftsman 16 oz. fiberglass $12
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RBD7XZD

Irwin 16 oz. fiberglass $9.71
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HD6N80W
If you're still on the fence...
The Fiskars hammer in the op is better than the 2 hammers you linked. Fiskars is only a couple bucks more and has anti-vibration, magnetic nail holder, has a straighter claw (works better for prying and pulling nails) and a metal handle shaft that will take some abuse.

The hammers you linked have fiberglass handle shafts. Fiberglass will chip and splinter below the head when they hit something, ie : when you miss what you're aiming for or when abused as in demolition. Just the fact that it's a hammer means that it's going to be abused, that's what a hammer is for.

Just my opinion, I've been in construction for 30+ years. BTW, I just ordered the Fiskars in the op.

Fiskars quality went down the shitter a few years ago. This is not the same company you remember making quality tools. This garbage is NOT worth this price.

Avoid Fiskars products from here on out
They have some misses in design that are often reflected in closeouts. Form over function. I've bought Fiskars hand pruners and saws that are great, and others that are annoying to use.

In for one. I own the framing version of this and it's day and night with my DeWalt hammer! Got it at Lowe's clearance only because of the price but boy once I start using it I literally will hunt to find it before picking up any other hammer. I don't even let other people use it lol
This is also a framing hammer. It has the groove and magnet which is typically only seen on framing hammers.

Nailed it to keep my DEWALT hammers company. As we all know, if you don't know what tool is needed for a job, a hammer is needed for the job.
