The Forerunner 265 at $350 seems to be a better deal than this. 945 was released in 2019 (although it is still a good watch).
For those who don't have Garmin yet, the first digit is the grade (9 is better than 2), and the second digit is the generation (6 is newer than 4).

So does the 265 have a newer heartrate sensor?

Also, there are things that are not shown in this chart; newer products come with more watch faces and tracker functions (old ones don't get updates!)
Nice chart for comparison. Yeah it looks like the 265 is pretty good for some new tech features, and it has a really low weight.
I also added the Epix gen 2 to the compare since it's also $350, which has slightly better specs but it's a big chonker.

Putting this as normal $599 seems a bit incorrect as even the 965 is regularly found for less than that.

As someone who hates incorrect regular price listings, you're right. That was the price listed on Walmart, but yeah before posting I tried to check if that was indeed the "regular" price.

It was not easy to find a straight answer, probably because like the first comment said this is an older device so current "regular" prices are all over the place. I think the $599 is the original price new. Since there was no definite price to set, just decided to go with it.

Personally I don't put much weight on any "regular price" listing, rather go by if the current price listed makes sense compared to other options' current price (again, like the first comment suggested).

Anybody know about the battery life of these newer watches? I have the Garmin Forerunner 235. I used and loved it for 6 months in 2017. I recently started running again, but it won't hold charge/power on. Garmin (chat) said that my watch can't be fixed as you can't replace the battery. The only thing they offered me was 20% of MSRP a new one.

Its out of warranty but yet Garmin still offer discount for new purchase? I'm own 235 too, that good enough.

Battery life on this 9 series is very good (mine lasts longer than a week, even when I'm using it for daily runs and bike rides with GPS).

There isn't too much difference between the 945 and 955. I have a Fenix 6X (similar to the 945 in generation/tech) and the 955. The 955 is slightly more accurate in distance/speed when running biking in some situations, but nothing to get too worried about. No difference in monitoring heart rate. The touch screen in the 955 is not much use, so I wouldn't consider that a benefit.

I think this is a reasonably good price, but note that the 955 was on sale for $320 recently at Amazon, so I suspect it may pop up again around that price sometime soon (BF perhaps).

Not a great price for a model released in 2019. We've seen the Epix2 go for $350 recently and I'm guessing we'll see the Fenix7 at similar prices once the Fenix8 drops in the next couple of weeks if you really want a MIPS screen.

I picked up an Epix 2 locally from Sam's club for $299.31. I shared that deal here if you search for it, I also posted the picture of the tag that you guys can use. Definitely pickup Epix 2 for 299!

I use mine daily for running, biking, walks, and strength workouts and the battery is so good I can't even gauge how often I charge it but it's definitely more than a week. 5 minutes worth of charging also gets you to about 30 percent which is more than enough for any workout. My one gripe would be that the cable it comes with is about a foot and a half and you have to make sure it's charging when you walk away.

100% agreed. It robs the deal off of its authenticity.

Might suggest putting that it's two generations old then maybe? There is obviously no current price, but that would help people realize it's not the latest.
