How does this posted PC compare to the above purely for gaming and future updating?

The 2 TB makes a huge difference as windows requires about 100ish gbs anyways so you're losing 10% off the bat esp since games right now such as Apex, COD are 100+ gbs if not in the 200 range. Unless you want to swap out your SSD you'll also need to format and add in windows too unless you go external or have an additional SSD/NVMe slot available in your current machine.
Processor wise, right now both the i5 and the Ryzen 7s are similar.
The costco one is more worth it just for RAM and SSD space - which is about $150-$200 in upgrades from your current system.
Having said that, I'm still rocking a 1660Ti that does VR mostly fine - so maybe it's time to play musical video cards, grab a 4070 Super for value, and end up with a decent still upgraded second machine.

If your 1660Ti isn't struggling yet, the 4060 is going to feel like a huge upgrade.
Also, the hyperbole over 8GB of VRAM mostly originated from a few hack YouTubers and then got regurgitated ad infinitum. We're not even at the point where 6GB is below the minimum requirement for most games.
Bought the lady a laptop that smokes my desktop and mostly looking to upgrade just so I can have a fancier machine - no real "need" atm. I just "want" something new and shiny (also have another desktop with same CPU and I think a 750 Ti, so could maybe make 3 VR PCs this way - just don't know how I'd make use of them)
Still on the fence here - might be worth pulling the trigger if I can make musical cards make sense

Now it says below that the oxidation process was fixed last year. So, is there a way to see the chip was made in later 2024?
On Monday, it initially seemed like the beginning of the end for Intel's desktop CPU instability woes — the company confirmed a patch is coming in mid-August that should address the "root cause" of exposure to elevated voltage. But if your 13th or 14th Gen Intel Core processor is already crashing, that patch apparently won't fix it.

Citing unnamed sources, Tom's Hardware reports that any degradation of the processor is irreversible, and an Intel spokesperson did not deny that when we asked. Intel is "confident" the patch will keep it from happening in the first place. (As another preventative measure, you should update your motherboard BIOS ASAP.) But if your defective CPU has been damaged, your best option is to replace it instead of tweaking BIOS settings to try and alleviate the problems.
And, Intel confirms, too-high voltages aren't the only reason some of these chips are failing. Intel spokesperson Thomas Hannaford confirms it's a primary cause, but the company is still investigating. Intel community manager Lex Hoyos also revealed some instability reports can be traced back to an oxidization manufacturing issue that was fixed at an unspecified date last year.

I am just going to wait and see what next gen brings to the table since price drops on current merch are usually only on the less stellar performers, and being they are already 2 years old I think they should be at least 25-35% cheaper by now and not a paltry 5-15% - my 2 cents
