Only 100TBW life…
Surprisingly low write endurance. Good for storage of data, but not as primary drive. Definitely not for gaming

That's indeed low considering the size. Like 50 write cycles and it's done isn't that much.

Quite low, looking at WD's docs on the drive it's the same endurance as the 1TB drive, infact their 1TB TLC version only has 80 TBW. WD green = caca

WD Green used to indicate 'Low Power'. It's certainly possible that this drive using QLC flash is indeed low power, but they don't mention it at all on the product page. It's a feature that certainly could matter to some people due to battery life performance.

to put that into perspective, their BLUE line is rated for 900TBW, and WD Black is rated for 1200TBW; same 2 TB capacity.

Edit: I guess it'll be good for storing family photos and video; you write once and rarely re-write.

Isn't an HDD a better solution for long-term storage of videos and photos?

This is indeed a very low TBW spec. Not a nitpick. Yes, the price and reputable brand is tempting (sadly 2023 had this and much lower SSD prices...) But WD is basically telling us in their own specifications they do not have much confidence in this product (and we should take notice). It even states "built for light and casual use" on the box. 😶

TBW is just a warranty period. The drive probably will keep working after you write 100TB. Why does WD put such a lousy warranty on with a product with its name on it? IDK.

usually, when SSD reaches its TBW and cannot be re/written anymore, it becomes read-only. so you can still read from the drive; you just can't write (or overwrite) the cell anymore. whereas, HDD fails, it becomes un-readable and a good paper weight.
