I can double check this evening, cause i have a metro iphone 12 i am gonna trade in, and my wife has a tmobile sim. I have tmobile redpocket sim, it did not work with new metro iphone 12.

That sucks that the lock is now 1 year. Even at 6 months i would have bought a few. At 1 year, i'd rather wait it out for another deal thats shorter unlock or goes up to the 13 for this price with a year unlock.

Actually you CAN trade devices on payment plan too. You'll still be on the hook for the remaining payment though.
