Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

Currently, I am stuck at identity verification page error and not the port-in details.

Also, I have had fairly quick turnaround for GV port-in to Metro in past, three times, so I don't think that is the issue right now.
What is the identity verification phase? I do not seem to get this page/prompt. I did get an order confirmation number though.

Yeah, I saw that firsthand as I played around with my used iPhone 12 before trading it in for P9. Snappy and no stuttering or other wildcards. Pixel still has kinks to work out. My first day using P9 base was full of jankiness. Same sorta stuttering and whatnot that my P6A had. But second day, going much smoother. Also with updates to Android 15, etc. Still, if the one day of playing with the iPhone 12 didn't make me want to throw the damn thing at a wall (reseting and erasing all data are two separate functions on the thing?!), Pixel would be very hard sell at the same price as iPhone. But given the price and ease of seamless Pixel transfer, I'm pleased. Good build quality too.
Just horrendous camera bump.

Can I just bring this phone straight out of the box to trade in for the Pixel 9 or do i have to activate the iphone 12 for any reason with the sim card and port the number? I rather keep my GV number, but understand if its not possible Thank you for anyone who knows in advance.

You can port out from metro after activating.

The phone doesn't need to be activated for trade. Make sure it boots.

Thanks this should be added to the op, if you didn't unlock google number and pay $3 you'll get an error and the google number will be flagged for an hour or so till you can do it again
I learned my lesson that way. thought I wont get approved for my 3rd phone so I didn't want to waste my $3. Thought I will unlock it after the order goes through. 😂.

Yep, grasshopper have much to learn!

Hey, not that it it matters to you, but if you check your order status here [metrobyt-mobile.com] and if you see a UPS #, then scroll down and activate the phone. That way it should port by the time you get it.

No. You don't need to pay for a year. You are not locked in to any plan. You don't need to pay after the initial order. Just don't do anything and after the first month just use the phone at home for a year like a mini ipad, or you can trade it in at spectrum (any trade in is $700+phone value for Samsung flip) or best buy (they don't mind it is locked, they only care about the find my iPhone is turned off by resetting).
Wait so... How much trade in value do you get for the iPhone? I tried to check at spectrum but they want an imei.... I actually have spectrum Internet and they gave me a 1yr phone service....

If it's your first line on the metro account, you will need the phone to get texts to login and get port out info, order another phone etc.
