Epic is paying millions and millions for those free games, in hopes you'll use their platform. Meanwhile, Steam remains the de facto platform. I'll enjoy the free games, and if I don't have them on Steam, I'll play them on Epic. But I've yet to spend a single cent through Epic.

Free games, yay!Steam: Here's a game that looks like the 80's space invadersEpic Games: Here's a AAA game that a lot of people paid good money forSeriously, I love Steam and have yet to install the Epic Game Store, but damn I wish Steam actually gave away games to get excited for.
If free AAA games can't even get you to install a Steam competitor's launcher, Steam doesn't need to do anything to keep you as a customer.

I want to say Steam doesn't really give away free games. Usually when a game is free like this, it's the dev trying to promote a sequel or something like that. Not exactly sure what's going on here. They may have been trying to give it away with the sequel and ended up just giving it away entirely.

I bought a game on epic and regretted it because epic doesn't have family share. I may think about buying more titles on Epic if steam can't family share the game and Duke epic some of my money. just remember Epic provides a service, they keep the 8-year-olds plan fortnite so we can play our games with out hearing them.

Epic Games: Here's a AAA game with spyware. You're the product!
In other words, there's a reason why Steam doesn't buy users )and free games are not an offering from Valve), while Epic Games do. People literally pay more for games on Steam, to be on Steam rather than go to Epic Games Store.
If you're happy with it, more power to you, but don't assume they're a good force in the industry.
This is basically misinformation.
"How does Epic Games make money?
Epic Games' gross does not only include game revenue from the company battle royale hit Fortnite, but also engine revenue derived from game licenses and royalties, as well as Unreal Engine assets. Epic is the developer of the gaming engine Unreal Engine, which is currently monetized under a royalty model, meaning that is can be downloaded for free and Epic claims a percentage of sales revenue."
