I have this ratchet (purchased as part of a kit). I really like it for what it is - an extremely thin, narrow headed ratchet with a flex handle for unusual and tight places. That said, it's very delicate-feeling - I wouldn't use this for breaking loose stuck bolts. It's a specialty tool for sure.

Mine has held up very well. I haven't had any issues breaking tight hardware loose. My thought is that they wouldn't have made the handle as long as it is if they didn't design it to take tight stuff off.

Yeah, the combination of the 1/4" and the long handle also made me think that it should be easy to shear off if you apply a little too much torque.

I have the Harbor Freight Pittsburghe Pro 1/4 3/8 dual drive ratchet

https://www.harborfreight.com/14-...67994.html

It is slightly more expensive, but a coupon can easily make the prices the same. The HF ratchet looks has higher quality and dual drive makes it very convenient. It doesn't lock, but I rarely find locking useful. The HF takes a lot of abuse though. Seems tougher than this one.

Never understand why anyone uses 1/4 ratchets. So easy to break. And everything you do with them can be done with 1/2. This one isn't but most are way too small for the hands. Interesting that it can take the hex drive stuff though. Seems like a decent price for what it is.
1/4 are fine for delicate stuff where you're measuring on the low end of the in-lbs spectrum. They can also sometimes fit into tighter spots.
Much like everywhere else, size your tools to the job. If you break a 1/4 ratchet or socket, chances are it was either poor quality or being used for something that a 3/8 should be substituted for.
I just used 1/4 stuff (ratchet, sockets, torque wrench) for a spark plug change. Forces large enough to have broken the wrench or sockets would have destroyed the fasteners or plugs on that job long before that happened anyway.

I bought this in february and have used it way more than expected. Mostly car work and usually using a 1/4" bit of some sort vs. a socket, it's fantastic. Highly recommended.
