Haven't had any issues with original roborock (mi robot 1) or the s7.
Yeah, spending $1000+ at these type of robot, getting broken down after 12 months, send in repair service for $100 shipping cost (yeah they DO NOT cover shipping)...after the warranty, the robot will be breaking down soon , the repair cost = repair cost at least $100-200/repair + $50-100 shipping cost

These robot are money pit blackhole!

I have three roborock vacuums now and have had five total. The three I have now have a combined runtime of 1328 hours with total cleaning area of 40,642.4m^2. I have literally never had to send any of them for any sort of repair. Any maintenance they've needed I've been able to do myself. The worst was getting a cat toy untangled from the wheel and the most complicated was having to remove the top lid to "reset" the lidar sensor.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your vacuum but I doubt yours is a common occurrence. Having a cat and a very sheddy dog I can say that these vacuums have saved me so much time and kept my house so much cleaner while only needing 5 or less minutes per week of input from me.

Is the obstacle avoidance on this functional? My floor is full of toddler toys. I don't use my s6 as much as I should because I don't have time or energy to constantly tidy. Does this model reliably solve this problem?
This one is the MaxV which has a camera. I was against cameras at first for privacy issue, but I'm absolutely blown away by how much it reduces the need to interact with the vacuum. My MaxV only gets stuck maybe once or twice a month even if I don't pick up, compared to the others that get stuck (usually on cords or string) 2-3 times a week if I don't pick up.

Asked this in a different thread, but does owning one of these actually remove the need to sweep/mop completely? Or do you guys find yourselves doing a cursory cleaning in addition to running the bot?
I wanted to hate this thing and get my money back.. but now I can't live without it. I love in florida and there is sand everywhere. I have 3 animals and my home has never been cleaner. I run this once a day and have all LVP.

There are spaces that will need manual cleaning - i.e. behind doors, weird corners where the bot can't reach.

It depends on your house and your cleaning requirements. I'd say it eliminates the need to sweep/mop the areas that it can reach by 95%.

My highest end roborock is the S7 MaxV Ultra and I'd say that maintenance sweeping/mopping are entirely done by the vacuum. We have a dog and a cat that both shed heavily and it really takes care of everything. The floor that it is on is mostly laminate with some rug areas and it cleans everything very well with essentially no input from me, besides changing the water maybe once a week. Mine doesn't have the new "corner" cleaning stuff, but the corners aren't noticeably dirty. There are some small crevices and some under-shelf areas that it can't reach, so when doing deeper clean I do sweep out those areas.

Robot vacuums will not be as strong as an upright vacuum or as detailed as a human, but what they lack in power that make up in persistence. They can vacuum your house every day without input from you while you'd probably want to do it yourself only once a week.

I find that I still clean every one to two weeks but it's a vast improvement than without. I do have 2 large dogs.

I know this is going to get a strong reaction, but would anyone trust Temu with a dreame product. They have a crazy sale right now with the x30 and h14 but I have heard horrible things about that site.

I pictured homes with sand or pets as the main beneficiary of these kinds of things. Might be about to move to my own places for the first time, but I work/travel a lot, so I was torn between shelling out ~$200 for a good deal like the one I first commented on to save myself the trouble (but I suppose I might not be making much of a mess on my own to warrant the expense).

I can't speak for this one but we've had an S6 since early 2020 and it has been absolutely rock solid. Just had to replace the battery on it which was extremely easy. When it finally dies we're definitely getting another Roborock.

They can be if issues occur. Going 2 years strong with s7 MaxV Ultra. Keep it well maintained and we don't push it to its limits with our use. Have had occasional issues like getting jammed or needing to use back up max to fix. Overall very pleased. Have water refill and dryer kit. Game changer!

These things aren't unreasonably difficult to do DIY repairs/maintenance. Yeah it might be costly to replace the main board but a wheel motor? Vacuum motor? Battery? All lower cost parts than your shipping estimates to have mfr do the repairs
Where can we buy genuine Roborock parts like motors, etc. ?

I have a corgi, and my S7 MaxV Ultra cannot get the fur off the carpet. I definitely have to use my Dyson V8 to clean the rugs. I'm thinking about trying the new S8 MaxV given that it has two roller heads which are supposed to be better for fur. I just wish someone like Rtings would do a review to compare the S7 and S8 MaxV Ultras.
