Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

You'll still need a cable modem (not sure if they are charging you for that or if you have your own). You would then feed the ethernet output from the cable modem into the WAN port on one of these Linksys as the router (parent), then either feed the second Linksys wired backhaul as a child mesh node or let it be a wireless backhaul mesh node that will allow your devices to connect to the same network name (SSID) and roam between the two. Follow the steps to add the child and it will assume the settings and configuration from your main router (parent). You don't have to mess with setting or duplicating anything if you ever make changes, whatever you do on the main will be propagated to the child.
Thank you kind sir, yes seperate modem and I am up and running and these things are blazing fast compared to my "advanced" spectrum router. Best $45 dollars I've spent in a while. Repped for taking the time to dumb it down for me.
These things must be wild when you really tinker with them.

Is the DD-WRT firmware better than Merlin on the AC68U? I considered switching to DD-WRT specially now that Merlin is dropping support of the AC68U.
I personally use tomato on all of my 68u's, much more stable than DD-WRT for me personally.

Got 3 of these on the $20 slickdeal, they just came today - took a loooong time. Just ordered one more for $15, won't hurt. I will eventually use these with DD-WRT or OpenWaRT once these options mature (and I have time to tinker). Currently I set them up as a wireless mesh with stock firmware by following the instructions (thank you all for posting!). Stock firmware seems limited, but better in terms of reliability and usability than some of the comments here led me to believe. If anyone wondered, can confirm that in my mesh config the ethernet ports also function kind of like a bridge, so I have printers and streamers plugged in directly to one of the mesh nodes so as to reduce WiFi traffic to node-to-node only.
Mesh-performance-wise (again with the caveat that this is on stock) - unfortunately it did not quite match my eero 6+ (not pro) 3-node mesh performance in the same exact locations. The Linksys was 15% percent slower (down) and had ~30-40% more latency. After a scan of channels I switched from auto to less congested channels for each of the 5ghz bands and it is now comparable to my eero's speeds. But I don't get why it wasn't smart enough to find these better channels on auto out of the box. Also, was surprised that the stock firmware limited the channel options you could select to 36 - 48 for the lower 5ghz band and 149 - 165 for the higher 5ghz band. Anyway, hoping this speed boost holds to I can switch eero's to only serve my iot and amazon devices (with wifi lights - over 40 devices) and switch all the actual networking to these.
BTW, even though these are past End-of-life, Linksys site lists the End-of-support sometime in '26, which is supposed to mean they'll issue security updates as needed. Now whether they follow through - it's anyone's guess, but fwiw, it shouldn't be complete abandonware quite yet.
At any rate, this seems like an amazing sale even if you're only going to stick to stock - but especially with aftermarket firmware.

Can I use this as an extension to my Asus mesh to connect only to a NAS?

FYI... Mine arrived this evening. Was very fiddly and had to ask Linksys for help.
2 hours later finally got it to work with my Specturn modem only by cloning the MAC address.
Interestingly, said the router was out of warranty, having started on 3/13/2023
Wonder if all of them are out of warranty. For $15 - $20 it's not a big risk.
Woot lists 1year Linksys warranty . Can you check with Woot and ask them to get the warranty honored.

So out of the box does this work as an AP and especially the USB 3.0 port at the back?
I am considering attaching an external SSD to the USB 3 port and run an FTP/SMB server on this router !

Read post #32. You will not be adding an SSD to this.

Return SHIPPING COST is about $7/router when using Amazon as a return portal. Ended up keeping 3 of the ones initially ordered from Amazon for $25 and ordered 1 @ $15 from Woot!
I just found out that orders on Amazon from third parties don't have free return shipping. Thanks for this heads up. I learn something new every day.

I'm in San Diego. But spectrum says there is not rental rate for their router??
One thing to be careful of is that if you ever cancel service, they'll ask for that router back and charge you an arm and a leg if you don't return it. A lot of people buy a better router and throw out the ISP provided router, thinking they got it "free". Then when they cancel service, they get hit with several hundred dollar fee for not returning the router.

I am not too tech savvy. I've read through all of these pages and I'm still not positive this will worth the way I want. I have a Verizon fios router. I can connect this to my router and setup through admin settings as mentioned above. Then disconnect the Ethernet and plug it just into the wall on the other side of the house and it will improve my signal on the other side? Thank you

Upgrading ol' LInksys Velop WIFi5 setup to WiFi6. Was about to pull the trigger on the costco deal but saw this instead. I think this is a good deal for 3 units under $60.

I have the same question. Not sure if one needs to remain plugged in to the router as a "parent" and the other extras are placed elsewhere as children, or can the parent also be moved to a standalone location as well and still feed the children. If it needs to remain plugged into the router as a parent to broadcast, then I need one more.
