Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

I think it's a good idea to wait. I just flashed openwrt [github.com] this morning. The router became non-responsive on ping (of 192.168.1.1) even though my Ethernet port's IP was set to 192.168.1.100 manually. Cycling of power or holding reset pin didn't help. In other words, it's "bricked". Anybody had the same problem? I hate to get access to the serial port as it seems opening the case is a pain.
Make sure you installed the correct build as there are some homewrk builds there which are similar but won't work on this :

All of the ones I received have "linksys homewrk for business" printed on the outside of the packaging. Does this matter at all when it comes to flashing the correct firmware?

Yes the builds are different. Lytr is helping on the openwrt for homewrk builds : [url]https://forum.openwrt.org/t/openwrt-support-for-linksys-mx4200/86477/1328

So does that mean people are receiving different models? All of mine were purchased from either Walmart or woot and the boxes are all the same...

I've been watching the deals on this and curious if I can add these to the MX12600 mesh system I bought on prime day. They APs appear almost the same, has anybody that bought the 3 node system tried it? Can I just add in the linksys app or would it require everything to be CFW? I have a system in my house that is wireless and a wired one at my parents house and would possibly add 1 or 2 more if they are only $15

I think all of them have the same packaging, but it seems like some have a different firmware loaded. If you get this page I attached at the login, you have the Homewrk version.
According to Lytr "HomeWRK and MX4300 (LN1301) are the same devices with different firmware".

If you flash the wrong OpenWRT build for the firmware you currently have, it will cause a mess of problems.

That's not the right build. Use the images for Mx4300 from here : https://github.com/testuser7/open...ax-2540ea6

This router has 2 separate partitions. turning the power on and off 3 times quickly should switch you to the 2nd partition which should boot stock firmware.

No, when I ran the stock firmware, the home page is not the one identified as HomeWRK firmware.

Hmm, it's always my modem that goes bad and not the router. My 15 year old router though is capped at 300mbps... far more than I need anyway. I wonder if this improves latency at all or has cool openWRT features. Been wanting to get a new main router that's openWRT friendly but Woot scares me with their defective stuff.

Can ANYONE who has this flashed advise if it's a great router performance wise and how's the wifi range utilizing this via mesh? I have another deco mesh router, was wondering what would be the best way to bridge both mesh as one?

I've been wanting to use a router to create a separate, dedicated WiFi network which will put connected devices (Roku) on Nord VPN through a Canadian server so that I can stream CTV shows while in the US. Sounds like something I can do with this router running OpenWRT or DD-WRT, right?
