If you have a high-end Sony, LG, TCL, Hisense, or Panasonic (EU and APAC), then it is definitely worth it.
Cheap non-OLEDs might say DV on the box, but won't have the brightness to make any difference with DV on.

Sure, a studio can screw it up, just like how sometimes the regular Blu-Ray release will be a better transfer than the 4K edition, but that doesn't mean 4K isn't the better technology.
I have the 820, the benefit is it supports all the HDR formats you're going to see in use. If you want to buy a player once, considering you may update your TV and receiver from time to time, it's a good choice. The 820 also has more hdr upscaling options if you want your older content to look nicer.
I know this is a pretty decent price online from when I was shopping for mine, but I got my 820 from a local small business for cheaper than this around Super Bowl. You may want to check with your local stores that deal in tvs and stereos to see what their prices are, my local store wasn't even overstock, they had to order it.

EDIT: Currently $220 new. And no OB options for shipment for me.
Bedroom TV is a 65" TCL Wal Mart Black Friday 2022 TV, $228.
Downstairs TV is a 65" TCL Wal Mart Black Friday 2023 TV, also $228.
I have a Sony x700m to go with the main TV (and its Dolby Vision capability), think it was $150 at the time, but I just can't imagine spending more on the player than the TV! I hope anyone who DOES get this, enjoys it though!
