The DC-only model is a different type of product: significantly lighter and more compact, more & more powerful USB ports, unique area light, no AC outlets.

The C300 AC is closer in size and weight. It has more & more powerful USB ports, including one that supports 140W input; EB3A has 1 100W output, no input. The EB3A has twice as much peak AC power and solar input, plus a wireless charging pad on top. C300 app supports WiFi and Bluetooth, just Bluetooth for EB3A. C300 has a 5 year warranty (3 years for DC model), vs 2 year for EB3A. Anker has a better reputation for support as well.

I own a EB3A and the C300 AC looks like a better comparable unit - but to be honest I think the C300 DC is a better device for most use cases for a small power station. It's got enough juice to run a DC fridge, CPAP or other DC devices, more USB ports for keeping a family's devices topped off, plus a truly useful area light. All that and a cheaper, lighter, smaller unit; and if you really need occasional AC power, you can run a small 100W inverter off the DC port.

AC outputs on small power stations are fine for a narrow set of use cases, just very limited by both maximum power and short runtimes. A larger power station will be more useful for AC loads.

It doesn't need it. Without AC output there is nothing to switch to, the AC input and DC output are separate from each other and can both work simultaneously.

Honest question, what are the use cases people buy these big battery packs for? I have a 24,000mAh Anker and it's the largest I'm willing to actually put in a bag and travel with. Genuinely curious what people use them for.

I too have had issue justifying this. Mostly vanlife/camping use case when needing maybe 2 days laptop power for remote work, phone, electric portable refrigerator, electric water kettle for coffee/dehydrated meals. It's kind of a conflict unplugging from life at remote destinations, only to plug in remotely. But, it plays a role for homeless, car nomads, who work remotely, shower/recharge at gym and need to take power to go. I guess they also serve for flexing at tailgates when toting an electric cooler

The bigger units are being justified for gas generator alternatives for emergency use cases (temporary power outages to power refrigerators or hurricane backup) when coupled with 200W cigs solar panels. the problem with all these "renewable" energy sources are the lifespan of the batteries especially when sitting in a 120F+ car.

We have two of the prior versions. I got for camping to charge phones and flashlights ect. However, they turned into the kids power source for charging their iPads on the couch. I have one next to me now to charge my phone and as a small night light. It's one of the most used devices in our house now besides the tv.
These paired with a small solar panel and you'll always have access to power for small devices and lights.

I'm in 4 in. And yes if you go through Amazon, you get the strap for free! After redeeming my cc rewards (Amazon makes that so convenient), total came out to be $130. I'm gonna be the star at my fam camping trip next month..lol

I had the same problem. Go to the Anker Amazon store and you'll find it there.

I use it when I'm working remotely from my car. Because of this I don't need to keep the car running to charge my laptop and phone all day.

Any recommendations on solar panels?

Yeah, what @protomech says about the DC one; I have an EB3A and my wife has the DC and they are different beasts. I like hers a lot and am kinda jealous of it but can't bring myself to get one even at a good price because I already have 300 wh (EB3A) and 768 wh (river 2 pro) boxes and I already use hers anyway :-). But really what I came here to say is that the DC tower is a) different smaller lighter as described and b) excellent for camping with its (kinda clever) lantern function.
