That's a good point. However, I've never warrantied a chip over 30+ purchases (retail box, not Ali).

I've warrantied 2, both AMD. 1 was a PSU failure that took out the CPU (AMD covered it), the 2nd was a 5800X that randomly died (apparently it has a failure rate that seems higher than normal).

What's the likelihood of being less on Black Friday sales?

Highly likely. There indications the consumer is starting to weaken after the last few years of inflation. Retailers are going to have to give big discounts to get people to buy during the holidays.

The 5700X3D is now $208 on Amazon.

It's a much better deal than the 5800X3D.

Great deal! Thanks for sharing, you should post a thread to bring more attention to it. 5700x3d will be more beneficial to most gamers while 5800x for professionals / non gamers.

If you already have AM4 then this is fine, but if youre building a new PC /on a tight budget/, than the 12600k is the same price and better in nearly every way (gaming, multi-thread, single thread, has iGPU, has quicksync encoder for video editing), and LGA1700 has a better upgrade path than AM4. https://www.microcenter.com/produ...t-included

It was cheap enough for me to buy it without a warranty on Ali. I bet during coming BF will be even cheaper.

I'm not sure why you have that kind of bad luck. But, it might be due to a power surge that kills your PSU and CPU (just to be safe get APC UPS Battery Backup Surge Protector). You also need a reliable PSU (look into Tier PSU reviews by knowledgeable people). Lastly, the CPU cooling/fresh air is not enough.

I own the 3600x, sell it for 5800x, sell it for 5700x3d currently running (Ali CPU). Out of all 3 CPUs, Only the 5800x3d used the most watts/generates the most heat on the stock setting with XMB enabled. So, you will need a good cooler.

I agree with your statement. But to tell the truth, the upgrade path cripples by half because of the recent Intel incident on 13 and 14th gen CPUs crashing/dying due to elevated operating voltage spikes. They said Intel fixed it with a microcode update, but the damage had already been done to the CPU before the fix and it will still be damaged CPUs (so it is pointless to buy used). To be safe most people will only be buying NEW CPUs from the 13/14th gen. Hopefully, supply and demand will not F up the prices for people who want to continue the upgrade path.
