Ordered this about 2 years ago and mine was brand new. Been running it again just the other day for a power outage powering the majority of my home save for the AC and washer/dryer/stove with zero issues. Still on original oil. Which I should probably change soon ..

Have had one of these for a few years. Their compact design makes them somewhat of a bitch to perform maintenance on. Recently had a gummed up carb (only used ethanol free fuel) and you cannot get the bowl off without having to disassemble half of the generator case. Firman support sucked as well. Was ghosted on their chat, phone call answered by someone who barely spoke English who never emailed me the doc he said he would, and their online form has yet to be replied to a week later.

Bought this generator from the same source (Firman refurb on eBay) for $350 a year ago. Mine looked untouched and has had zero issues (only running for a short while once a month). If you're wondering about anything, ook up the old thread on here for a much longer discussion.

Yeah I heard that too. The rumor about them resetting the run time counter. I really hope that isn't true. Unless of course they actually did put a new motor in it. You would think that would be considered fraud. My motor was clean and shiny and showed no signs of use. So I really want to believe it was new.
Plenty of people have received firman refurbs with dirty internals and 0 hours on the meter....they most definitely reset their refurbs. It's not a good practice.

Buying refurbs from them is a total gamble; they will refurb a dead horse. Compression test? I highly doubt it. If they can get it started it goes out the door. Why? Because of costco returns policy...taking back anything after any amount of use/abuse, lack of break-in oil change, lack of oil changes at all, etc. etc.. Firman reclaims losses with this strategy.

Gunked up carb and disintegrating tubes/gaskets are my worst fear with generators. I finally gave in and purchased a new 2500w peak inverter for a bit under $350 otd.
Several times during the "storage service procedures", I opened a screw that let gas out near the carb. I hope that's enough to keep it un-gunked. Not sure if there's a way to vacuum the drops left in the tank out; I just tilted it until no gas flowed out.

In the description name it shows 4000w but on the eBay description it says total 3.3 k total Watts

I'm hoping that means 4000 starting and 3300 running?

are these quieter than the champion Dual Fuels?
i have one and it is loud but I don't won't to upgrade if it is only slightly better
i don't own both units, so it's pretty hard to say. I do own the Firman and it's definitely not quiet. It's not bad if you are 15 feet away or so, but I wouldn't count on it being quieter than the unit that you have.

Right off the Ebay listing. The 90 day is factory warranty. The 2 year is from Allstate

Use a gas stabilizer like Sta-Bil and/or E0 gas (NO ethanol, but hard to find and more expensive) to help minimize the issue.

If you do not run the generator regularly (like minumim 30 min every month), a gasoline stabilizer is a must.

An oil stabilizer is also a must for storage. All these are recommended in generator manuals.
