I'm one of those weirdos that went from a Honda eu3000 to this. Honda was just too heavy. With the wheel kit and full of gas the thing must weigh 140+lbs and it is literally all I can do to finagle it into the back of the truck by myself.

The Firman is 40-50lbs lighter, no exaggeration. I can lift it no problem.....it's not light but it doesn't break me. I think I might look into getting a lighter lithium battery for electric start just to cut another couple lbs?

I was worried that I would get one of the banged up ones I've read about here in the comments but mine is pretty clean. it has a couple scuffs on one edge but otherwise looks new and if I had to guess I'd say it got used once or twice. All stickers and the control panel look new

I was also afraid it was going to be a lot louder than the Honda but it's really not. Yes it is louder but just barely

So I like this generator a lot better than the Honda (go ahead, flame away), I'm super happy. It's way lighter, more powerful, runs on propane, has a handle and wheels built in......and cost a third less than a used Honda. What a deal

For those who want one for emergency purposes, I modified mine so I would not have to trickle charge the battery all the time. in case you arent aware, for propane, you cannot pull start this because there is a valve in the propane regulator that requires a live battery, And if you dont use it often, the battery will be dead. So I opened the side and the intake side, removed the battery, removed the screws attaching wires to the battery and then attached/soldered/marine grade shrink a SAE weatherproof connector to the wires and passed hte conector thru the intake side grill. Then made a SAE connector to 1/4" spade connectors to connect a 12V 2.5A sealed battery whenever I need to start the generator,. Meanwhile to keep it charged, I use the battery in an UPC on my desk. When there is a long term blackout, I simply pull the battery out (dont even need a screwdriver), and attach it the the SAE leads and start up the generator. Usually I only need to use it once or twice a year, when there is a day or 2 blackout. Keeps the refrigerator, TV, microwave and internet going for a day or 2. And I always have propane on hand for the grill.

Have had one of these for a few years. Their compact design makes them somewhat of a bitch to perform maintenance on. Recently had a gummed up carb (only used ethanol fuel) and you cannot get the bowl off without having to disassemble half of the generator case. Firman support sucked as well. Was ghosted on their chat, phone call answered by someone who barely spoke English who never emailed me the doc he said he would, and their online form has yet to be replied to a week later.
did you mean to say ethanol free fuel?

Yes, meant to say ethanol-free.

I keep a few cans of this handy even though they are a bit pricey.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/TruFu.../203571144

Ethanol-free formula eliminates risk of engine seizure or costly repairs due to ethanol related moisture attraction and phase separation, commonly found in station gasoline

Advanced formula and fuel stabilizers precisely blended with full synthetic oil keeps fuel fresh for 2 plus years after opening and 5 plus years unopened. With TruFuel, there's no mixing and no mess. Simply open the can, pour and get to work.

Avoid any refurbs from Firman like the plague. I bought one of these units and it worked for an hour and that's all she wrote. Thank goodness for the Allstate warranty otherwise I would have been out several hundred dollars. If you choose to roll the dice, make sure you register the unit and save all receipts and correspondence. While others may have had a different experience, prepare yourself for the inevitable drama.

Thx. My #1 requirement for an emergency generator is easy access to carbs. I now remove them and clean, ethanol or not, after storms. I keep spare gaskets and a spare Chinese carb for my larger Subaru.

Got mine. Looks brand new. It sat opened in my living room room for 8 hours & never sensed any odor of gas or oil, so suspect it is completely unused/new. Date of manufacture 12/2023. Battery worked for startup. Tested with light load & appears to work well so far. I'm pleased.

I always used ethanol-free fuel in the generator that also had fuel stabilizer in it and still ran into issues starting it. I now plan to use fogging spray on the carb intake (remove back panel/air filter) as well as the cylinder head via the spark plug hole. I winterize all of my other engines (tractor, outboard) and they always start right up in the spring, just runs very smokey for a few minutes.

Price went up to $389 but there's a 20% off coupon available, so now it's only $311.99.

Tempted to grab one.

I own this one from a deal a few years ago. Works great. Friends have used multiple times as I lend it out to those in need if I don't. Just break it in, change the oil, run the carb dry and you should be fine. Or just use propane from the start and eliminate the carb issues.

Can you explain to me I'm basics how does one run the carb dry? Also does this help if I am using just regular gas without stabilizer or do I need to use stabilizer??

Let it run without a draw attached until the gas runs out. Pump out a majority of the gas if you have a lot of it in there so it's empties faster. Harbor freight sells battery transfer pumps pretty cheap to help with getting most the gas out.
