Realistically, in your opinion, how much longer, will this 9th Generation iPad be able to be used, for those simple types of tasks? Another 6 months to a year? 2 years? 3 years?

FWIW, I use my 6th Gen (Mar 2018) iPad every day to stream shows, YouTube, basic browsing, in addition to random apps. As of today, still supported and going strong.

Well the 7th gen is still supported with the new iOS 18 that's being released and it came out in 2019.
The 6th gen is still technically currently supported on iOS 17 and it released in early 2018.
This released in 2021 so it still have several years based off that.
For $200 this iPad is a no brainer for people who do basic things with them, kids and older adults.
Last iPad with a physical home button and headphone jack.
Just picked up two for the kids and traded mom's iPad mini 5 at Best Buy for $190 trade credit and got her one as well since she just uses it for YouTube.

im still using iPad 5th gen, jailbroken.. i must be behind the times..
I am using the second generation - primarily to watch netflix. Looks like I'll finally need to buy another one as netflix app will not work on it now. If you can point me to how I can jailbreak my ipad, will appreciate it.
No, it's not a M1 or M2 chip. I personally would not buy buy an iMac or iPad that wasn't at least an M1 chip. The new iOS pad software needs an M1 for a lot of the new features.
He expects m1 chip for $200 😂
