This is an iPad from Costco for $199. One of the biggest no-brainer deals I've seen. I picked one up because my 10.5 Pro refused to turn on one day and I still love the form factor with that particular Smart Keyboard. This one is slightly chunkier than the old Pro and I miss Promotion but this was $199. Everything I use it for - Pages/Docs/Bloons TD 6/Mail/Apple News and ebook reading - it's been great for. Easy recommend.

No, it's not a M1 or M2 chip. I personally would not buy buy an iMac or iPad that wasn't at least an M1 chip. The new iOS pad software needs an M1 for a lot of the new features.
It's an iPad. You won't notice a difference between A13 bionic and M1. iPadOS doesn't utilize it

I bought an iPad mini 5 (2019) a few months ago and it was unusable out of the box. After an OS update it used about 50+ gb of OS and 'Other' so I couldn't free up space and it doesn't leave much room for other app or content. Apple products are made to be obsolete within about 3-4 or first release, so I would say steer clear.
I had an iPad that slowed to a crawl even for browsing but my grandpa seems to be OK with that. I think older generation has more patience and they seem to be OK with these things slowing down over time, even with factory reset.

I bought this a few weeks ago when it was this price. It's a great iPad for kids as it's the last one with headphone jack and a physical button. You don't realize the necessity of a physical headphone jack until you're stuck on a 10+ hour flight and your kids BT headphones no longer decide to pair with your iPad but they must only wear that set of headphones and no other substitute will be accepted.

We also have some really old (6-10 years old) iPads strewn throughout the house that we only use to show videos etc. we use these during dinner or bath times, when we don't want our regular iPads to become dirty or damaged. They still work so I have no qualms about this iPad working for its basic needs (video playing, emails, web surfing) for the next 10+ years.

You def have other issues going on with that iPad. I just traded in my moms iPad mini 5 for this one purely for a bigger screen size and I used her mini with no issues and she still had 25 free gb out of 64 after having it since it first came out.
Two weeks ago I bought one off fb marketplace and used for a few days, updated it and installed a few apps and had about the same amount of of free space as well.
The iPad mini 5 is still perfectly capable along with this 9th gen.
You got got with the one you just bought.
Where did you buy it from?

Enlighten me on what I'm able to do on my m1 iPad Air that I'm not able to do on my iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen or this 9th gen because of the iOS software?
And I'm not talking about video editing or that stuff.

Buy 2 $100 Instacart gift cards from Costco for $80 each. Use on Costco Sameday or Instacart. Get another $40 off that way (plus fees and tip).

The 10.5 pro has some known chip issues. There are services on eBay to repair them - look for motherboard or logic board repair. They brought mine back from sudden death, for under $100. I love my pro and so didn't want to give it up. It's still going strong after the repair.

Bought one of these about a year and a half ago for $250. I only use it for note taking, video watching, and light web browsing it has been pretty good. Recently I have noticed that the updates/use over time have made the system more laggy. When I'm writing with my pencil on the iPad I notice that it's not as smooth and I have to restart the device every day.

If you're buying this for yourself, do yourself a favor and get the new iPad with the better processor. Future updates will make this one much more laggy.

Realistically, in your opinion, how much longer, will this 9th Generation iPad be able to be used, for those simple types of tasks? Another 6 months to a year? 2 years? 3 years?
My kids are still using an iPad for basic needs that is something like 10+ years old.

You can't win any internet based arguments about the use case of a "basic" tablet device. That's the key difference on why you need M1 or greater iPads.
