Like many other tools, there is more than one way to do it. Ease of measuring and aligning pieces I've never seen a dowel jig do a good butt joint for casework. almost 0 dust.

festool is a luxury, not a necessity

that looks like a great deal, too! but if you want to keep your investment as low as possible, you could stick with your DF500 at 5mm cutter setting forever and buy tenons from amazon. 300 pack is only 31 dollars.

Yeah or alternatively there's some router bits available to cut your own tenon stock with scraps you probably have in your shop already

Thank you. I jumped on the domino sale and didn't see this. Cancelled that order and did this instead.

If you've never seen a dowel jig do good butt joints for case work, look into jessem dowel jig, or dowel Max jig. Both are incredible jigs that rival the domino at a better price point. All 3 systems have their strengths and weaknesses
