Any thoughts on the screen for this one? The 240Hz is great but what about the color gamut and also...hows battery life under normal use? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks in advance

I have the 165 hz version of this. Battery lasts about 3-4 hours on heavy office load. Probably 2 hours tops doing anything graphics card intensive as I use OBS for alot of videos.

Screen is fine. I also have a Acer Predator 240 qhd screen and I honestly don't see the difference between the screens.

oh.. and mine does not usb c charge though.

If you upgrade to the i9 processor and 4070 video card it brings the price to $1104. I'm not sure I've seen any laptop with an i9 and 4070 for that price point.

That sounds like a good deal. How is the build quality, as compared with ThinkPad? Look to replace my ThinkPad x1 extreme

Thinkpad is high end. This one is entry level. build quality is uncomparable.

I mentioned that in my original post. Check that. It has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 100% RGB and over 90% Adobe RGB.

thanks - just read through it. I was going to get it for my son, but the heat and throttling issues will probably stay away. Also, saw the size of the adapter for this laptop - it's HUGE. It's almost as heavy as the laptop. I probably will pass - thanks for all your inputs.

does the i9 version also suffer from the same issues as the i7?

This is the best budget gaming laptop I've seen yet. It's got a 4060, 4MP 16" screen, a nice CPU, and no ten key which is better for ergonomics (leaves player in the middle of the even). Also, I didn't mention the refresh rate, because I don't play games online and deliberately buy 60Hz monitors and run with VSYNC on. Most games are written for 60Hz even Doom Annihilation (although you can manually edit a config file for more). I also stopped playing doom annihilation because I couldn't stand all the jump puzzles even though it looked great on my 4090 at 4K.

The 4070 version also gives you a full thunderbolt port instead of usb-c gen 2. One important stat not listed is what wattage the gpu can pull in the g16.

i don't get why they overspec laptop screens these days
a 16" 16:10 1920x1200p screen has a 141ppi density
meanwhile, a 27" 16:9 2560x1440p screen has a 108ppi density, which most people find to be a good viewing experience
and then, a 4k monitor, 32" 16:9 3840x2160p screen has a 137ppi density, which is much better
even at like 1200p/1080p, you're getting a great supposed viewing experience, but this laptop gpu definitely cannot handle qhd 240hz gaming, except maybe in some older games, and some esports, which would be very few games
this screen has an absurd 188ppi, which is a 74% higher ppi than the 27" 1440p screen i am typing this on

iirc, according to jarrod's tech, 4060 and 4070 laptop gpus don't see a performance improvement past 90-100w, so as long as it is 90-100w, you should be getting the best gaming experience for that gpu
4060 and 4070 with 90w vs 100w is like a 1fps difference too

Really good deal, probably better than all the other Dr ones since it doesn't count Amex Cashback. i7-13th gen, QHD screen, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4060, and a nice Mechanical keyboard for $850 is great. Only issue is the weight, but this seems more like a desktop replacement.
