Secondipity's great, just got a pair of Sony earbuds from them a few days ago, but I'd buy through eBay in order to get the 2-year Allstate warranty.

Don't buy the xm4 earbuds. They sound fantastic, but they're almost guaranteed to have the famous xm4 battery drain issue, and they won't be warrantied.
Most likely, these are the defective ones that Sony took back when fulfilling their own warranty, then liquidated those to Secondipity.
Don't get me wrong though, literally everything else Sony I've gotten from Secondipity might as well have been new.

Bought the XM5 headphones the last time it was posted with supplier by Secondipity and came in new condition, with OEM headphone case. Just the shipping box was brown box.

these were 79.99 like 9 months. I purchased them and returned them in like 4 days. These def aren't very loud and the Sony app is trash looks like it was designed by a child. These def doesn't sound as good as the Galaxy buds fe or even close to the OnePlus buds 3 that sell for $70 new and get twice as loud.

I don't and haven't owned them, but I thought I read that was fixed with a firmware update. Maybe someone who does have them can confirm.
I had these from secondipity, and they failed in less than 1 year of not even daily or heavy use. Battery started draining, would only charge one side, or would only charge up to 30% at the most. Contacted Sony, got told to kick rocks because it's not eligible for warranty.

Basically became a worthless paperweight very fast while my 2-3 year old earbuds from Samsung, Jabra and Bose were still going strong.

Just commenting that the application is nice on Android and apple devices. The only issue is calls suck on these xm4 headphones. Nothing compared to even cheap headphones that have weird Chinese names that sound like pharmaceutical prescriptions.

They're fine as long as you don't upgrade the firmware. Of course you don't know if that's happened.

No. I prefer the cheaper Sony extra bass models over the more expensive XM models. I have the XB900's and XM4's, my daughter has the XB910's, my son has the XM3's and XM5's. Out of all of them I like the XB900's the best. They are bluetooth with no way to repair or replace a battery so they will be thrown away at some point.
It's very easy to replace headphones' batteries. Sony battery is under $20. For earbuds, it's more tricky but doable.

I agree with the battery drain. I've owned the XM4s for about a year and a half now and just past a year, they started having battery issues. However, Sony did service them for free. It took them about a week or so to ship, repair, and send back to me.

I bought the WF1000XM4 from Secondipity back in May 2023 for about $120. I started noticing poor battery life in the past few months, something like less than 1 hour of use from the right side earbud and maybe less than 3 hours from the left side. I watched a couple of videos on replacing the batteries and it seems pretty easy to do -- I've just ordered a pair of Z55H batteries for $16 to do the replacement.
Honestly, this is sort of to be expected of wireless electronics... if the battery replacement goes as well as I am hoping then I can't really complain -- the features and audio quality on these buds are great, much better than the AirPod's of the same era. The fact that the buds (and the case as well, it seems) are serviceable makes this a decent buy, particularly if you don't shy away from DIY maintenance work.

I've had my XM3 since 2020...headphones can last a long time. The battery is big for headphones. Will take longer for degradation to even be noticeable. If they last 40hrs how often are you really charging?

Audio wise the XMs are better hands down.

Depends on ear shape, and type of exercise.

This is true. I was impacted this by. I would imagine that the refurb units are likely due to this, so maybe it has been addressed? Or if they are at least replacing the batteries on these refurbs they should be good.

Otherwise, it is pretty easy fix if one is up to the challenge. The battery kit is $25 on Amazon and the only other thing you need is a blow dryer. I fixed mine this way while watching an episode of DS9. I love these buds and fixing them for $25 is way better deal than having to buy them again.
Were you watching Past Tense? Those episodes happen this weekend! Jadzia, Bashir, and Sisko are in SF right now!

I read that it didn't help, some people actually downgraded firmware to older versions that worked better. But the problem is the faulty firmware actually damaged the batteries so an update won't fix that. Only future damage.
Yep! Exactly what happened to mine. I did the firmware upgrade and it killed one of my ear buds. I'm not wanting to try another Sony wireless product because of it. Why would I reward them for that.

Just tried it now, still working. Add to cart, then go to cart page. On the right side of that page you should see the $119 price. Thing is though, I think the people mentioning on the thread to wait for an Ebay sale price on it where you can get the 2 year warranty are absolutely on the right track. Seems that would be a much smarter way to go, especially when I see many posts saying they've run into problems with picking these up through Secondipity and the 90 day warranty.

Just out of interest, for those recommending waiting for a better deal through Ebay, what price would you be looking for over there? I don't use Ebay very often at all, and so I'm not sure what price would be considered a good one if you're trying to get this with the 2 year warranty.. Thanks if you can clue me in on that Smilie

Bought Sony WF-1000XM4 a year ago and this product isn't showing up in all state account(2 year warranty).... Even with new firmware battery drain just start happen and last about an hour before dying.

Edit: had to talk directly to CS and was able to add my device to all state warranty.
