Remember when Walmart had digital music in 2003.
Dwight: We're still missing the teenage love puppy and Steve the Pirate.
Owen: Who's Steve the Pirate?
Dwight: The only guy on our team that dresses like a pirate!
Owen: Wait, there's a guy on our team who dresses like a pirate?
Netflix is putting out worse "content" every day and is jacking up the price constantly. We just canceled our membership there last week and I'll get the very few Netflix shows we want and watch them via Plex.
I stopped trying to pirate music when Apple/Google/etc. said I can listen to all the music I want for like $15/mo.
When media companies are reasonable with the pricing and access and content, I'm all too happy to pay for the convenience. If you try to sell me a shit sandwich for an unreasonable price, I won't buy it.

What if you buy it with DRM, and then download the content from an illegal source? Since you own the content already, does the file you downloaded become less illegal? Kind of like making a backup copy of a CD you bought?
Any Slickdeals lawyers out there? Haha.
(Or more simply, just borrow the books from the local library. Mine have gotten into ebook lending too)
