This is a great deal on a great tent. It's been my go to backpacking tent for the past five years. Setup is blazing fast and the included footprint is a nice perk too.

Yes, it's heavy, even for bikepacking. That said, I'd buy this as a backup and use it for car camping. It's a nice deal with the included footprint.

The Tiger Wall UL3 is on sale as well, but that'll cost about $150+ (not including footprint, which is extra) but will save half the weight: a significant savings when you're on the trail going for days. You can also find Big Agnes products sold through Oregon retailers that are not required to charge sales tax FWIW

That was the 2 person version, this is a 3 person version.

So price increased by $10 from last year's Labor Day sale. Still the deal is slick, IMO. I doubt this tent will be discounted further anytime soon. Hope this deal helps someone.

Is there a site to compare these tents? If I want to see two or more rei tents side by side to compare features that is… for example what makes half dome nearly 2x price from the trailmade. 🙏

It's relatively heavy and bulky but will be fine for a few days - look at the quarter dome for something lighter and also more expensive.

I've gone backpacking with the half dome 3 for years, maybe 15+ times.

It's on the heavier side of a backpacking tent, but I'm not a through hiker. Generally, we hike 8-10 miles and stay for 2 nights. The weight is worth the comfort for us.

The trailmade is significantly smaller.

I had the prior version of the trailmade, and my friend has the half dome. The cross bar means more headroom and it has vestibules. it is also more wind resistant based on this design.

We have the 2+ and it would leak during heavy rain, no visible holes or tears. REI reduced their warranty period so there's not much we could do.

2+ is a great tent. I use it as my single person tent went camping with the scouts. I'm 6'2" and it is roomy you enough for me and my gear inside.
