Project farm did a Blackstone oil analysis and testing on many different oil brands including Kirkland and Supertech. His conclusion was Kirkland and Supertech are basically the same oil and as good as the big boy brands.

I wanna know some tips on getting rid of old oil? Im a newbie
See the thread, but:
- many major auto parts stores accept used oil, e.g. Autozone, Pep Boys, Walmart, Advance Auto, etc
- many other major stores accept used oil, e.g. Home Depot, Tractor Supply
- many independent mechanic shops accept used oil
- many municipalities will accept hazardous waste (transfer station)

Twice a year oil change when typically family have 2-3 cars easy savings of $300+. Think about how much you earn after tax on 5% cd or Fidelity tbill ETF with $5,000.

I don't really do to save the $. Too many experiences of oil change places even dealer screwed up. This year alone friends and co-workers. Oil filter put on leaking due to didn't notice jeep had old filter gasket come off from oil filter and Valvoline jammed on new one.

Another 2 cranked on drain plug cracked oil pan on 2019 Hyundai that already burns oil and all drained out day later. Honda and separate Hyundai dealer overfilled. Quick change places caught not changing filter.
Who knows what crap oil the dump in and $1 filter when changing you $120. No thanks.
Ramps and hour of my time max is same as time driving to and from places that screw up and kill cars.

Can't do it yourself? Team with a buddy show up have cup of coffee and chat as you both do it using their tools.

Can also just find a good local shop and pay $130 or whatever. Cheaper than new engine and higher car payment.

Many don't mind you bringing filter and oil if you are loyal and actually do repairs they recommend.
Might be a while before you give them work so just be nice to them. It's very tough to survive as repair shop with bad car designs and junk new parts now.

Good cars really don't need brakes or tires for at least 50-60,000 miles. Tie rods, control arms etc usually very long, struts 100,000+. Junk sway bar stabilizers often sooner. Just change and check oil maybe gdi cleaning each year or every few.
Why are you talking about $5,000? shake head

Would recommend to anyone wondering the correct OCI to get an oil analysis. If you want to "trust the science" you need data.

My Toyota manual says every 10K but I decided to stretch to 15K and analysis came back excellent with <1% gasoline and said the oil had wear typical of 6900miles. I could probably go 20K, which may be the next interval I test out.
At $15 a change , I'm going to change it as often as possible. not as long as possible.
I can't afford any repairs

Check with your city's hazard material disposal program.

I'm scared to switch off Pennzoil to Supertech or Kirkland's.
Why would you even think to switch and pay more than double for Kirkland or Supertech? With Pennzoil rebate I spent $7.50 for 5 quarts (I bought 10 quarts of 10W30 PP for $40 this year at Autozone, free shipping and $25 PP rebate).
