Clip the coupon and or promo code for $15 off the $99 price.

This is the newly released D225 doorbell from Tapo. Works wired or wireless, but if you hardware you can set it to record 24/7 to the local SD card which is awesome. No subscription needed, if you do you get clips sent to cloud and photo with your alert on your phone, otherwise it's text only which is fine. Subscription truly optional, AI and all other features work fine without it. Does NOT work with your existing chime but comes with a small plug in chime that works and sounds fine so no need. Can adjust chime sounds and volume directly on the chime with buttons so it's simple.

I own this, it replaced Arlo and Ring for me and is worlds better. It's pretty big in physical size, but works far better than any I have had before. Used it on battery and moved to hardwire for the 24/7 recording function as that was too nice to not use. Crazy fast alerts compared to Ring and Arlo. I'm super impressed compared to the 4 other doorbells I've been through in the past. Overall highly recommended by me anyway, and a good price now too and wanted to share!

Does the SD card go in the chime or the doorbell itself?

The SD card goes in the doorbell. This doorbell is huge. Almost 6" tall. If you don't need the battery powered option and the PIR sensor, the smaller model D130 is a better deal at $50 with similar performance.

I will say the pir sensor works fantastic though. The "AI" detection also works amazingly well. I have had zero false detections and i suffered a ton of falses with Arlo cameras. Ring was better, but slow to react at times resulting in just shots of people walking away.

The Tapo cameras are much better. This doorbell is large, but it has large batteries so to be expected I suppose. One mounted it looks fine, but first glance coming out of the box was woah. It's a monster! Supposedly a hub coming out for Tapo cameras so you can record locally but have the SD card in the house which would be nice.

Notifications are so fast I can be opening the door while my delivery drivers are still taking pics of the delivery even though they never rang the bell. Catches them and alerts as soon as they start up the walk so I meet them and they are always surprised lol.

Yes, the difference is that without subscription you will get an alert saying "person detected at front door" and you have to click the message to open and see the clip. With subscription it will have a screenshot attached to the message.

For me it's totally not needed as the app and clip pops up so quick as to make the screenshot pointless. Now on my old Arlo and Ring devices where the app and clip loads super slowly I needed the shot to have any clue what was going on in a timely fashion.

ok, thanks for clarifying. Sounds like it won't be a deal breaker.

Can confirm RTSP is working now with firmware 1.1.4 that has been pushed to my device. Works great. This was the only missing feature I was worried about. Keep in mind RTSP won't work when running on battery, which is understandable.

Yeah I saw someone else post that (maybe it was you) in a review.
Did you have to force it to get the firmware?

What do you connect the RTSP to?
