If anyone's wondering i only watched season 3 of this and didn't feel like I was missing any context from the first 2 seasons so that is probably the preferred way to go about it
The first two seasons are pretty bad. The show is genuinely good in its third season, and a worthy send off to the TNG crew. So really you'd be paying $15 for one season, that's the value add.
Loved how the first season went out of its way to vomit all over Measure of a Man. This show is why I'm pulling for AI to put every single one of these kind of writers out of a job.

Season 2 is one of the worst seasons of Star Trek, hell sci-fi in general ever made. It's up there with season 3 of Distory, then the rest of Discovery. It's amazing that the same people wrote and made season 3. Season 3 is far from perfect but at least, mostly, watchable.
I agree with this 100% and came to say similar. Season 1 was decent, 2 was such trash. 3 was redeeming and watchable because I LOVED TNG and loved seeing the gang together.
Season 2 brings a tear to your eyes because it's such TRASH
Season 3 brings a tear to your eyes to see the gang all together for one last hurrah.

Season 1 was slow and boring. Season 2 was utter nonsense and should've never happened. Thankfully season 3 was the best of the bunch. But in general TV today is so preachy and is rarely just entertaining which is the whole point in the first place.
Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but yes -- Seasons 1 and 2 are godawful; honestly, just skip them entirely and watch Season 3 like that other commenter did. Season 3 is what everyone wanted from this series to begin with: A decent sci-fi plot that is actually intriguing, with plenty of respectful fanservice toward the original TNG series.
Don't listen to those that say S1 and S2 are bad, they are probably better than S3 if I'm being honest. S1 was so good, and so was S2. S3 had fan service, but the story I thought was super weak. The other seasons have the borg and time travel, you can't go wrong with those...

I'm kind of of the opposite opinion. IMO it started off fairly strong, but the wheels started coming off by the end of the first season and then they basically just ignored everything from the first season in the second and third. The third season seemed to be just a way to create a kind of epilogue for TNG, which I suppose is fine, just not really my thing.
I was about to give up on this series. I forced my way through season one, but it was tough. Boring and uninspired. Also very difficult seeing a childhood hero reduced to this old, blithering woke shadow of a man. The new characters just aren't that interesting, and you can't help but question Picard's judgement in the choices he makes. But because of my affinity for TNG, I pressed on. Just started season 2 and wow, this is a dumpster full of garbage. Thanks to these comments I will skip it all together and give s3 a shot.
I'm with the Season 3 is pretty good" crowd. It's stronger than the TNG movies, weaker than the TNG originals (by a mile) but feels like a pretty good conclusion. I actually enjoyed watching Red Letter Media pick apart seasons 1 & 2 way more than I could enjoy watching them myself.

Season 2 had a storyline in that mess? Did you even watch season 3? Clearly you didn't.
