Columbia is known for excellent hiking shoes. These are the Crestwoods I bought for $35, and they are every bit as good as Merrell MOABs in my experience aside from the laces being far too long. I cut them shorter and put on some waterproof adhesive shrink wrap. I also own the Columbia Newton Ridge Plus II, that I got for $45, and they are easily the best value full leather upper hiking boot on the market. I've been through plenty of water and snow in them. The lack of a waterproof membrane in the Crestwoods is definitely a virtue for me for summer hiking where waterproof shoes often result in sweaty feet. I agree that this is not much of a deal.

I bought these a little over a year ago and have been great! Have walked thru little river streams with them and held up well just washed them out and had them dry out in the sun and still in like new condition. Very comfortable and have held up well specially when wearing them multiple days when out camping.

Saw this after I clickedbuy but it make me feel a bit better about my purchase. Though tbh, I just need SOMETHING for hiking. I don't hike that often but one of my excuses is I don't have the right shoes 😂

They are not waterproof. Honestly, these seem ok for the money, but not a hot deal. Columbia are hardly a premium brand, and they're not known for good shoes.

They're $50 hiking shoes with no claim of being waterproof. No one expects them to be premium - just need an inexpensive pair of shoes that can get some dirt on them.

Average on CCC is $56.83 so not a huge deal but I will say it's the lowest it's been in awhile.

Been looking for something in a 13 wide. Wish the black color was $51, but I'll try the brown.

Except Merrell MOABs have been awful for the last 6+ years. So every bit as bad as MOABs then?
