So these are the oldschool just get hot burners, but they use significantly more than an induction cooker or whats the main drawback? I know they stay hot so harder to control temp but thats not a huge issue for me

I already habe induction cooktop but only 2 frying pans that work with it. I could buy more induction cook ware or get one of these and use normal pots. I'd mainly use it to boil noodles , stir fry, cook eggs, etc so basic needs and cooking. I paid about $10 for a 5 inch mini skillet, noodle cooker from Walmart. so having a much larger one for $20 seems good and can use any pots, pans. https://www.walmart.com/ip/731846909

There isn't anything magical about induction cooking.

Bring a magnet with you while shopping for pans if you need an idea of what will work.

If you're on a budget, buy cast iron in the camping section.

These are great for hotel stays when you prefer home cooked food. Also good for making coffee with a Bialetti moka pot

The drawback is they aren't a full range and you'll likely trip a breaker if you're in a situation where you have to use this over having an actual stove.

They don't "stay hot" any longer than your pan does, they just attempt to maintain whatever temperature is set.

Also, induction stoves typically use more power than conductive electrics.

Don't do it. Induction is worth every penny and you'll kick yourself if you opt for electric.

These are useless due to the automatic shut-off/cool-down. You can't keep it hot consistently so it prolongs cooking time.

Thanks for the comment, this is what I was thinking, use the cooktop while traveling. Bring this, plus a pot, a pan, spatula and I can do some basic cooking.

Got it about 6 months ago for same price. Works great. Easy to take around, cook bacon outside, or some other stinky or dirty foods outdoors. Great for making cannabis extracts outside. Great to take somewhere. Cheap as f*** and works good.

I double boiled a glass of cannabis oil in it for a long ass time, so I don't even know what you're talking about auto shutoff...
