I have to disagree with you there. I have 64 devices connected to four LN1301s in a router + mesh network and performance has been decent and stable for nearly a week now. I have 16 IP cameras streaming 1080p video 24/7 as well. (Half of them via Ethernet bridging with the mesh nodes)

Mind you that I only have 100Mbps Spectrum internet but I do stream/direct play 4k videos from a Plex media server to several Amazon Firestick 4k devices without issue. Overall IMO you would be hard pressed to find such relatively decent hardware for so cheap; especially a Mesh network.

It wasn't all smooth at first mind you. I kept getting disconnects; especially with the streaming IP cameras. But I discovered by disabling Express Forwarding all my streaming issues went away. (CA>Connectivity>Administration>Express Forwarding)

I'm guessing that Cisco's/Linksys' proprietary Express Forwarding routing protocol was causing havoc with the IP cams streaming capabilities. Also, disabling Node Steering seemed to make things more stable as well; mesh nodes no longer disconnect from the router when Node Steering is disabled. (CA>Wi-Fi Settings>Advanced>Node Steering)
User feedback across two years indicates better performance with all three off. Express forwarding seems to negatively affect streaming. Node steering interferws with Google Home and Apple Homekit. Client steering slows connection down if you have more than one router.

Of course, user experience can vary so feel free to experiment. if the routers are giving you problems, try turning these features off and see if it works
Still waiting for mine to ship from the last $15 deal. Just checked and Woot says SEPT 13. Hasn't even shipped yet.

It's not a deal if you never receive it.

The stock app has very limited parental control. Would flashing to dd-wrt improve parental control options?

My Linksys app won't recognize this when being added as a child node to existing mesh. The old nodes have no problem being found!

LAN port 3 is highlighted yellow. Something special about it over the other 2 LAN ports? New to Linksys router.

I think that's what's used for setting up mesh for the extra nodes

The UI is buggy, encountered same issue first time I switch to bridged mode. The main mesh node was on red LED and UI wasnt accessible. Did factory reset on both nodes and redid the mesh + bridge mode again. Working fine now and I can still access the web UI on bridge mode. A lot of options disappear with bridged mode.
Thanks a lot. I had to do factory reset three times before it worked. All I had to do is just to put the router in "Bridge Mode".
I haven't tried mesh yet. Going to try out now

On the stock firmware, when mesh is set up, should I be seeing all the nodes in the connectivity tab? I only see my master node but it shows "Network Device" as connected in my network map and not a linksys device

Can anyone advise if linksys is STILL supporting this router with periodic sock irmware updates? What MHZ channels are missing and how does this really impact the performance of this router?

It doesn't support 6ghz., This is a WiFI 6 device not 6e. It is tri-band but that's because it has two 5ghz radios.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a "Wi-Fi 6" model which operates on 2.4 or 5Ghz bands. I think you need Wi-Fi 6E to use 6GHz …

That thing from woot won't ship for half a month! Unbelievable….
My order from woot originally said it won't ship until later this month, then the package just appeared a few days after my order. They never updated woot's tracking until it was delivered, so there's a good chance they're shipping early and only put that long shipping date in case they get backed up.

Yes, if you setup the mesh properly, all the nodes will show up in the Connectivity - Basic tab. Also, it will show that all the nodes are up to date.

Stock is rock solid and my take is that it *may* have better performance than DD-WRT or OpenWRT. This is based on my anecdotal experience with Linksys MR9000/MR8300 series that I tested with OpenWRT (802.11s mode) and stock mesh and stock is far superior, imho. Speeds are NOT even comparable as stock was giving me almost the full bandwidth on my fiber link where as OpenWRT was very dismal!

Yes, the 5GHz2 band which is 4x4 is used for the wireless backhaul. Using the CA menu from a desktop browser you can even assign a different SSID for this band if you want to have it dedicated to the backhaul.
What would be the benefit of not having the 2nd 5GHz band as dedicated backhaul, or why didn't they make the 2nd 5GHz band dedicated by default?
