I have to disagree with you there. I have 64 devices connected to four LN1301s in a router + mesh network and performance has been decent and stable for nearly a week now. I have 16 IP cameras streaming 1080p video 24/7 as well. (Half of them via Ethernet bridging with the mesh nodes)

Mind you that I only have 100Mbps Spectrum internet but I do stream/direct play 4k videos from a Plex media server to several Amazon Firestick 4k devices without issue. Overall IMO you would be hard pressed to find such relatively decent hardware for so cheap; especially a Mesh network.

It wasn't all smooth at first mind you. I kept getting disconnects; especially with the streaming IP cameras. But I discovered by disabling Express Forwarding all my streaming issues went away. (CA>Connectivity>Administration>Express Forwarding)

I'm guessing that Cisco's/Linksys' proprietary Express Forwarding routing protocol was causing havoc with the IP cams streaming capabilities. Also, disabling Node Steering seemed to make things more stable as well; mesh nodes no longer disconnect from the router when Node Steering is disabled. (CA>Wi-Fi Settings>Advanced>Node Steering)
User feedback across two years indicates better performance with all three off. Express forwarding seems to negatively affect streaming. Node steering interferws with Google Home and Apple Homekit. Client steering slows connection down if you have more than one router.

Of course, user experience can vary so feel free to experiment. if the routers are giving you problems, try turning these features off and see if it works
Still waiting for mine to ship from the last $15 deal. Just checked and Woot says SEPT 13. Hasn't even shipped yet.

It's not a deal if you never receive it.

I guess not available in bridge mode?

Either way - I can't seem to get it to do mesh when in bridge. I guess I'll just run two separate nodes in bridge mode.
Hmm, that could be. I've never tried bridge mode.

Apologies for posting in an older thread like this, but I'm hoping to get some help using these. I'm hopelessly stuck and not sure what I'm doing wrong. I followed the instructions found in the community notes, but still can't get to where I need it.

My goal is to achieves this: Asus Router ---ethernet---> LN1301 ---wireless---> LN1301

I decided to setup the two LN1301s before adding them to my current network. I did initial setup on the one that will be hardwired to my Asus Router, and that went smoothly. My issue is when I get to step number 6, and I try and add the child node. Everyone mentions the Add Wired and Add Wireless node buttons, but I'm getting a different screen when I click on CA Router Setup.

For me, what's appearing is a message that says "Please set your WiFi SSID and password" with blank text boxes for me to input that information. Beneath that is a button that says "Setup Node."

I don't understand why I'm seeing a different screen than everyone else. I've tried pushing forward by inputting the SSID and password that I input during the initial setup. However, this only leads to both the LN1301s going into red light mode, with the web interface no longer accessible. My only option is to hit the reset button to recover from this state.

Here is how I have everything connected for the setup process:
Computer ---WiFi--->LN1301 ---(LAN)---ethernet---{WAN)---> LN1301

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

---------------------------------------------------------

Setting up Linksys router in mesh mode

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.
There's a crucial step here in step 2, plug in ALL your child nodes. I set up my child nodes 1 by 1 initially, it either never worked and I didn't noticed (one of the child node got it's own subnet that is different than the main router) or it changed its subnet after about 2 weeks. It did this twice in a row until I connected both child nodes to the main router at the same time to configure CA.

*edit. spoke too soon, my mesh just changed subnet from 192.168.1.x to 10.76.1.x overnight by itself. I have yet to figure out why it does that.

Aaah heck. I can't get this working. Main ln1301 been running for months.. connected node ln1301.. light turns purple on node... in ca connectivity menu... i get no color change after I click add wired node. It just stays purple.

Tried resetting too.

I just upgraded my internet plan to 1 GB. I'm only getting less than 600 Mbps on WiFi. I have this router, purchased it when it was on Woot for $15. Can this router handle 1 GB or is there a setting I need to do to improve the speed?

What speed do you get if you connect directly to your modem?

The laptop doesn't have an ethernet port, so I can't connect directly to the modem. I need to buy an adapter.

600 Mbps sounds about right. I have 2Gbps and I get full 2Gbps via Ethernet. WiFi only gives me 1.2Gbps.

The tech came out to check my internet speed. With his laptop connected to the router, he was getting close to 1 gig. He suggested it might help if I get another node for the living room since the one I have now is in the master bedroom closet. He also noticed that the Linksys app was set a mixed connection with 5ghz and 2.4. He suggested setting the connection to 5ghz only and not mixed. He couldn't find a way to change the connection from mixed on the app. Would you know if that can be done?

It doesn't matter. You should stop trying and be happy with 600Mbps on WiFi.

If you don't, you're more than welcome to try and go down further into the rabbit hole.

No guarantees, but I've found that trying to go to your router's ip from a web browser sometimes exposes more settings than managing it from an app.

Correct. Accessing router ip via the browser will allow one to select the connection to use.

Yes, and do it from a computer (or switch your mobile browser to desktop mode).

He connected via ethernet?

You can't disable individual bands with the stock firmware but you can rename the 2.4 band to a different SSID so that you always connect to the 5 ghz SSID.

Actually it is possible to individually disable the 3 wireless radios using a desktop browser. You can even disable all of them.
