The price used to reflect that this is a cheap, plastic brewer. Now it's more expensive than higher quality Japanese glass or ceramic brewers.

i love coffee from the aeropress but the price has always seemed high for what it is.... and..... while I'm at it why cant they make a metal or glass one.... not plastic??
That said Eric press uses a plastic I'm not familiar with but doesn't hold grease very much, Just some.
Also you don't want to wash your aeropress with soap and water each time. The soap bonds the oil and then extracts into your coffee. Italians never wash their coffee apparatuses. They are completely fine with the build up. There's no hygene problem in doing this. Eventually you want to take down the build up and then rinse it really well and start over then continue not to wash it with soap only water. Many Italians never get rid of the build up For years which is kind of gross.
I just interpret it as: the designed outlet is too big and water falls out of it too quickly soo buy this or do that.
I got this one 5 years ago for 99 bucks.

I'm pretty sure you can get one that's That's comparable for 50 bucks maybe even 30 nowadays If you look into the other brands. No it does not froff by steaming it frost by spinning a little plastic disc. It will not have that slightly scorched melt taste.
That all said you can make some super lazy delicious cheap-a-chinos and lattes after you are set up.
A good grinder makes more majic happen.

Wait a bit for the paper filter to be less wet and you can manually remove the coffee ground (can be used to feed the plants) from the paper, then rinse with water and that's how the inventor of this product stated that the paper filter could be reused up to 80 times.
Makes one perfect cup at a time, every time. Recommended, even at this price
I got it to try it out. I never got it originally due to using plastic and I wanted to filter my coffee due to getting older and cholesterol level catching up.
I also get gifted coffee on occasion and wanted to try something different besides French press.
After I use up my coffee I will go back to my delonghi espresso machine and just stick a paper filter there.
I makes good coffee....but doesn't beat real espresso.
For those who don't like the high price of filters, you can buy sheets and make your own. Just calculate the cost and see if it makes sense for you.
Those complaining of plastic...I agree. Could use metal or porcelain like French press. Just have the water marking on the inside. It's BPA free, but, who risk microplastics? I'm not an anti plastic nut but I try to reduce heated plastic around hot food and drinks if I can.
