This looks really good. Is this a good deal? Are there better ones for a larger gaming laptop with a full direction and number pad?

No, there's no other deal on an 18" (or 17") laptop currently and is usually rare. So if you want a larger gaming laptop then this is a good choice to consider.

I'd consider a 16". I'm looking to replace a nearly 10 year old Acer Predator gaming laptop with a 17" screen. It's been solid, just getting up in age and looking to upgrade. Hope this Acer is as solid.

Def good deal. I'm typing this right now on my Helios 18". I have the older brother with the 1080p ips screen and lower spec GPU card ...owned this for 8 months now and zero issues to this day.

The touchpad is glass btw. The fans do come up lout during heavy gaming but other than, no issues. I spent 400 hours + on Elden Ring on this laptop.

It's a full desktop replacement so its heavy and battery sucks but ya shouldn't be considering this if u want battery life and portability.

I work from home and use this on the side alongside my work PC.

Is a good deal for a new computer. Acer recertified can be had for about 1350 on eBay. I just wish it was the mini LED but I think you have to go 4089 or 4090 for that

No issues with the Intel cpu on these. I own the 2024 predator 16 with the 4080 32gb ram and 240hz screen. The raptor lake cpu I9 works great.

This is a great deal. I was considering the 18 inch 16gb ram 1tb 4060 with the 1080p 165hz screen on clearance at Best Buy. for $1500.00. This is cheaper. Gets you a better screen and the 4070 vs the 4060. The trade off is that a 1080p paired with the 4060 is a good match. Stepping up to the 1440p screen I do not feel the performance at this resolution is going to be held back by the 4070. Also the 8gb is the same on both gpu choices. That said there us no reason why you can't lower the resolution to 1080p should you run into fps issues at 1440p.

So, looking at this listing. This is the Neo variant. The neo version is the budget variant, and some of the better features are absent from this model. The one that really jumps out to me is the per key mini led rgb on the keyboard. This model has a 4 zone rgb, but it is not mini led or per key. The build materials are not going to be on the same level as the predator is. Like I said in my other comment, this isn't a bad deal. You can upgrade the ram, add another m.2 drive and replace or upgrade the wifi card. I did have the 2023 16 4080 but took it back to MC. A few days after my purchase the 2024 model was reduced to what I paid for the 2023 model. Had 2tb of storage vs 1 and had also had the wifi 7 vs 6 card. Also had the wasd mechanical replacement switches and mini led lighting. Later I discovered the gpu had a 400mhz clock and the Turbo on the I9 was 5.8 vs 5.4. Overall a better unit. Now I am considering the 18 because of the screen. I am on the fence about 4060 1920x1200 165hz vs 4070 2560x1600. Or the 3rd and most logical choice is to wait for the 50 series releases on the next predator line of laptops. That's probably at least another year away. Early BF deals are coming soon from Bestbuy so there is that to consider as well.

Wish it didn't have Intel CPU. Otherwise it was almost a perfect machine for me.
PS. Saying not because of the recent discovered Intel issues (although it adds to it a little). Actually I have not been liking Intel for their heavy investments in israel. And frankly I am so happy about what they have got now.

Overall I want to comment and give a well deserved shout out to the Acer group. This predator and neo line of products has brought gaming on a mid to high tier accessible to me and many other gamers alike. When I want to game on the go plugged in of course I can. When I am at home I can quickly connect to either my tv 4k or a 40" ultrawide and it's both seamless and easy. The inclusion of 2 usbc ports allows me to use a usbc powered soundbar that's the same width as the laptop. The built in laptop speakers are just ok and the Creative Soundblaster GS3 gives me a great experience while gaming.$30.00 was a no brainer. I can use the hdmi port but really don't need to so far. Every game at 2560x1600 has been absolute perfection with nothing held back. Highest textures dlss frame gen ray tracing. It all works really well. I use the performance preset mostly. I've played most of the high cpu and gpu intensive games on the highest settings available. Cyberpunk. Sony complete pc port list including Days Gone, The Last of us part 1, Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, God of War, spiderman Miles Morales, Spiderman Remastered, Lords of the Fallen Elden Ring, Forza 4 and 5, Immortals of Aveum, Evil West, Halo, Assassins Creed(all titles) DiabloIV, Armored core VI fires if Rubicon, Baldurs Gate 3, and the list goes on. It's been great. I have a desktop with a 4080 super and I play at 4k on that. When I am on the laptop my games don't suffer and look great still at 1440p. It's a solid well put together product that I can afford. Just buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Paid $1,899.00 for the Predator Helios 16 2024 model that included the Intel I9 14900HX 2tb of storage, the 4080 with 12gb of vramm with a higher tdp than the 4070 and the 240 hz 1000 nits 2560x1440p screen. The fully customizable per key mini led backlight keyboard with swappable keycaps and switches on the wasd keys. Also equipped with 32gb of ddr5 5600. It also includes the wifi 7 card. Stays cool under load and gaming. Doom Eternal with everything cranked to insanity mode, and I maintained over 200fps in performance mode. I bought mine from Microcenter. Usually, msrp is $2,400.00. I wouldn't buy the 4070 because 8gb of vramm is not enough anymore. I push into 10 to 11gb of vramm in several games I play. If you wanted to save some cash, then the predator 16 4060 and a 1080p screen can be found for about 1,000 to $1,100. You can get great game play at 1080p on the laptop 4060. The screen is gonna be about 320 nits 165hz, but it will be fine for gaming. I, too, had an Alienware 17r5, so I know where you're coming from and what you're probably looking for. Good luck, whatever you decide.

You are correct. It's a 250hz mini led 1000 nits screen with hdr. The lowest price for this I've seen with the 18-inch 4080 model is $2,799.00. The 16 isn't fat behind at $2,499.00. Lately, though, I did see the 4090 240hz for 2,799.00, for which I would probably take over the mini led screen. The 240hz panel is still amazing.
