I have an older Orbi RBR50. I'm out of the loop on current mesh setups. Is mine out of date and would this be an improvement?

Orbi RBR50 is an AC (Wi-Fi 5) router. This is also an AC router. They're both older spec. You'd be better served looking at at Wi-Fi 6 (AX), 6E (AXE), or 7 (BE) router depending on your budget, ISP speeds, and how bleeding edge you want to be technology-wise.

Been running this system for a few years now and it is rock solid. I've got the slowest Xfinity internet tier (150Mbps)? so this is more than fast enough for my household.

You're kidding me... I JUST got into Wifi 6 (AX)... there's AXE & BE??

I'm really behind the times.

So this vs 3 for the $20 Linksys 1301 aka 4300?

PS I just got my 3rd 1301 from UPS and added as wireless mesh node in less than 1min.

these would not be an upgrade over the orbi. orbi has dedicated back haul channels for orbi to communicate this does not and would share with clients. This 3 pack only make sense if you can wire all of them. I'd consider these in a place where someone desperately needs some kind of wifi and wired only.

I'm so far out of the loop, I don't even know what that means but I guess I can look it up. I currently have 6 people in the house and either 100 or 250Mbps for my internet (I can't even remember that lol). It seems sluggish at times but it could just be my provider and peak times.
