My first preference is actually GOG because it's DRM-free. I understand that Steam has been around for a long time with minimal risk of shutting down, but if you lose your Steam account for any reason (which has happened to me), you lose access to all the games you've purchased

As someone who came back to the game and beat it recently— this game is amazing. Tried to move on to the next game, and instead doing a 2nd play through just a week later from trying two different endings. Fantastic world building, characters, story, and Night City is worth exploring.

Only bummer is that it's a GOG version, not Steam. But I understand since cdprojekt has a stake in GOG. Same as trying to buy Red Dead 2 for cheaper but only finding Rockstar Launcher versions.

I use them all and have CP on GOG. It works, modding is supported. Really no difference.

Isn't there the same risk that something could happen to GOG or your GOG account? I'd expect steam to outlast GOG any day. Or is there a way to recover your GOG library if the service closes down?

Or do you store 100% of your library locally? Seems like a lot of work and storage costs just to hedge against steam ending/losing your account. I have no idea how large my steam library is but I'd guess 15TB at minimum, and then drives all eventually fail.

Not throwing shade, I just personally way prefer having games in steam.

As far as getting a usable key, very legit, i've used them for years, never had an issue. But these is a very high possibility these are gray market keys. So if that is what you mean by legit, its not lol

There is a process to recover lost steam accounts, not entirely accurate

Fair enough, I prefer sticking to one platform as often as possible. I also enjoy achievements on a single platform for the same reason, even if I'm not achievement hunting. I do agree with the other commenter about DRM free through GOG though!

Currently on my 3rd playthrough of the game. It's in a great state now as long as you have a rig that can handle it. Have sunk a lot of hours into Night City

this game is the best first-person shooter ever made, and there is a good modding community to help make it be whatever you want it to be.
