Pixels are unlocked at factory. Is Mint is really locking these phones?

If they are locking, do these phones come in opened/resealed boxes? Does the Mint SIM needs to be in this phone for 60 days to get it unlocked?

Going to paste this same thing into every thread?

The whole "Pixels are always unlocked" ended years ago. If you buy direct from Google for higher price, yes it will come unlocked (can also be gotten from BestBuy and others unlocked, for a higher price).

These two threads are not duplicates, posted by two different OP, for different phones. There is a better chance of getting the info if I posted in both threads. And I got the info from a friendly fellow SD'er from the other thread.

It's not that I don't know how to use google, with google search it takes time to find accurate and most current info whereas there is a good chance of getting that info quickly here.

Look at the response I got from the fellow friendly SD'er from the other thread:

Existing Mint customers can buy just the phone for $699. If you do the phone+service as a new customer make sure to use a referral link to get renewal credit. Either way phone will be unlocked 60 days after activation on Mint.
What does it mean to "use a referral link to get renewal credit"?

How can I get this deal if I don't have a number to port in?
[I'm thinking somebody here will know, if there is a way. So thanks in advance.]

The phone plan required me to port in when I did it, so I don't know how you can get the plan because mine was linked to the 12 months as if it's a port in even though I didn't select anything when I ordered it.

You can get referral link from an existing Mint customer to get additional bonus.

Your "friendly" SDer is messing with you, as they are 100% locked for 60 days. So not so friendly after all.

It is the same question about the same line of phones, and you could find the answer by searching here, on mints site, or on google.

If you don't port in, you get 6 months instead of 12. But for $2 to $3 you can buy a number from Google Voice or Numberbarn to port in and get the extra 6 months, which is a no brainer.

If I buy this phone+plan promo.
Can I port in, activate the SIM plan on an exiting phone, then after 60 days (without opening the phone box) this phone will be automatically unlocked?

Or am I required to activate the SIM directly with the phone, and use it for 60 days?

100% when I did mine it did not give an option not to port in. And I only did mine to about a week ago. No option when I activated it online for this. Maybe if you call they will let you do that but the option was not there for me.
