The tuna in olive oil is the same price with the same 20% coupon. Does the extra 25% coupon work on that item too?

The 6.7 oz jar of yellowfin tuna is sold under various brand names and I wouldn't be surprised if in each case it's the same product. This is a good opportunity to find out whether it would be worth $6-$10/jar to you, since that's the usual price range for it. Because of the size of the pieces, it plates up nicely.

Thanks OP - $6 is a bit too rich for my blood, but at $3 I'll see if it compares to the other jars that look the same - i have a bottle of Tonnino in the pantry

Just bought some 'Safe Catch' from Costco based on online reviews. Is this better than Safe Catch?

Yes, 1/2 pound per gallon more, so not much. Tuna in water always best imo.

Always carefully look into all food companies you use, especially new ones imo:

New product launched by seasons this year. I looked around and this may be the manufacture(?) pushing their own product? See very similar products around. For $3.25 per, why not.

Among these, yellowfin and bigeye are large predatory fish with high levels of mercury (Boush and Thieleke, 1983; Kaneko and Ralston, 2007; Kojadinovic et al., 2006; Kraepiel et al., 2003; Ordiano-Flores et al., 2011), often exceeding the EPA consumption advisory limit of 0.3 μg/g wet weight (USEPA, 2010

Species Mercury in ppm Mercury (in mcg) per 3 ounces (85 grams)
Skipjack tuna (fresh or frozen) 0.144 12.24
Albacore tuna (canned) 0.350 29.75
**Yellowfin tuna (fresh or frozen) 0.354 30.09**
Albacore tuna (fresh or frozen) 0.358 30.43

It is $35.53 via S&Save less 20% & NOT 25% coupon. So unfortunate....

The FDA recommends consuming fish lower in mercury. For tuna varieties, skipjack earns the Best Choice label from the FDA, while yellowfin and albacore receive the Good Choice label. The FDA suggests avoiding bigeye tuna, which has the highest levels of mercury.

Eat it and take your own risk.
