I think the app forces it since there's times users do forget to add the actual item link.

If you don't have an actual link to the item or deal itself, especially for ymmv in store deals like this one, and it makes you add one, it's ok to just add a link to the main site the deal is at or to a store locator link for that store for b&m deals if you wish.
