Bought these for $400 when they first came out and ended up returning them. Sonys sound profile just isn't for me. They focus so much on clarity and crispness that music sounds "synthetic" to me if that makes sense. The bass sounds like it's coming from a far off distance. Nothing like how it would sound live.

However, the comfort and noise cancellation are top notch. I might not have returned them at this price.

Great headphones. I tried several brands and found these to be the best in the $400 new price range. $220-225 is the normal refurbished price. This is a good deal, and the cheapest I've seen the refurbs go, but they've been at this price several times the last 6 months.

You can change the sound profile on all of the XM headphones I believe. What you are expressing is a common problem. There are videos on youtube on how to do it and also forums.

Either search google for "Changing the sound profile on Sony XM*" or maximizing audio quality on Sony XM* or check out specific in depth reviews on the model.

I don't know if it was specific to me, when I click on any of the three it just has an option on the page that says "$20 coupon available for refurbished". I assumed it was a general eBay thing but maybe it's person specific?

Yeah I only have a $5 off $50 if I use the app coupon, I don't have the 10% off refurbished items that you have.. too bad it would be been nice to have it.
