Might want to add PFD to the post, not sure if deal alerts are retroactive but I didn't realize at first this was a life vest/personal floatation device and not just a fishing vest

edit:
comments below show this is USCG approved "Level 70" and it comes with a tag on "helpful hints on personal floatation care & maintenance"... so not sure what definition of PFD people are using. but this holds up in my book.
https://uscgboating.org/recreatio...jacket.php

pretty funny how the top rated "helpful" comment is misinformation disproved by the other two "helpful" comment. Slickdeals collective wisdom is a real crapshoot

label on an eBay listing for the item:

Edit 2:
mine arrived today- all the found info/images were completely accurate. USCG approved, Level 70. "Floatation Device".
Heads up the L/XL Sizing claims it is for over 90 lbs and 43-55 in chest.
Little bulky in the front, but I suspect that's the norm for paddling vests since there is less foam on the sides and back.

This is not a PFD, even the product itself doesn't advertise as PFD.

So far the comments are split. Can anyone confirm for sure that this is or is not a CG approved PFD?

It's just advertised as a fishing vest. Doesn't mention life vest or even use the word flotation in the detailed description.

Here is a picture showing the USCG 70 level:
https://i.etsystatic.com/34069591...4_kat2.jpg

According to the USCG (Semper Paratus!), this performance level indicates:
Level 70 - intended for use by those who have help or a means of rescues close at hand, or who are near bank or shore. These devices have minimal bulk, but cannot be expected to keep the user safe for a long period of time in disturbed water.

The USCG/Transport Canada Approval System replaces "Types" with "Performance Levels": 50, 70, 100 and 150.

This is equivalent to a type 3 that you would find on most older jackets and that type seemed to be most common pfds sold.

Weird, every time I choose a store that it says it has in stock, the page updates and says it's OOS.
I'd like to go try it on, no point in having it shipped to me if I'm just gonna return it.

Not true. All pfds on commercial vessels must be CG approved. You can have non approved as extras.

People are all arguing about pfd
But it's only $16
If you are that concerned, don't spend the $16
