- The sensor is from the GFX 100II, which was announced only in September 2023.
- It's the best sensor currently out. (The only sensors that have higher Dynamic Range are larger Medium Format sensors.)
- It's a cheaper GFX 100II with intentionally dumbed down video capabilities, a worse (but still very good) OVF, a smaller battery and no battery grip available
- Fuji's AF systems is from 6 years ago. Canon / Sony / Nikon all have much better AF systems by now. This camera is NOT for sports / birding. Perfectly adequate for portraiture / landscapes.

I think I'll pass for the same reason as always on a GFX body: it's hard to justify paying more for a GFX, i.e. 0.5 stops of extra bokeh / DR / resolution knowing that newly released FF cameras knock the pants off of this thing in every other respect, and the image quality advantage is marginal in practice. Maybe I'll get a used one for $2,000 in a couple years for use with all my Manual Focus and Canon EF mount lenses via adapters. (I love swirly image corners.)
But I agree, this is still "Boomer Medium Format". (Sony needs to build a proper Medium Format camera!) The AF of this thing is stuck in 2018. Not my opinion I'm afraid but rather the consensus view of reviewers. And then Fuji wants to charge a premium over FF for marginally better IQ and much worse everything else... Still a nice pure Manual Focus camera if you're into that sort of thing. Many people are.

I have tons of MF glass that I could use with this baby. I just don't see that much of a difference in images vs. FF.

Wait until they start bringing out 5g connected cameras with Cloud based AI.
Imagine you take one shot and you end up with the RAW and 12 renditions that you can select other images to incorporate.

Is it a big deal for $1000 off? It depends. I used the warranty with GFX 100S to address hot pixels issue. And I'm considering to send the camera to them again for the sensor cleaning - DYI solution did not work well for me. But for $1,000 discount I might have taken the risk.
In any case, the medium format is wonderful. Great IQ and ability to crop. Very good dynamic range. This, actually, changes the way how you work - I'd even argue that it will make you better photographer or help you to become one
Word of caution though - the ecosystem is expensive. Unless you can restrain yourself and live with 50mm or 35-70mm ones (both are quite decent and lightweight despite being relatively cheap), you will need to budget $1.5K+ per lens (you can get better deals on used equipment). And you will want to get more than one. And it is also heavy - you are looking at 4-5LBS body+lens combo.

Well, I started with this one and eventually upgraded to 100S. 50s II is very good but 100s II is much better camera - better sensor, better AF and DR. In my opinion, if you are planning to invest into this ecosystem, $1000 would be a drop in the bucket in the long run.
If you decide to look at 50s II, try to find it with 35-70mm lens. It is well worth extra $500 and will give you a good start.
