This RAM is CL22 @ 1.2V and no idea if it overclocks. You can find similiar prices for CL16 @ 1.35V from other manufacturers - Like this one [amazon.com]

I agree. This is a not a good deal, and it's not even esthetically pleasing with the generic green PCB.

Here's a list of similar kits around the same price sorted by first-word latency (the lower, the better) from PCPartPicker [pcpartpicker.com]. It doesn't capture everything available out there, but it's a very good starting point.

On the flip side, I've used this memory without any hiccups in various Dell Optiplex and Precisions (which do not use ECC or Buffered)

This is JEDEC compliant RAM, which does matter if you're upgrading an OEM system that doesn't support overclocking. Or if you just don't want to overclock, period. Anything above DDR4-3200 is technically overclocking. Boards and RAM may say they support faster speeds, but nothing is guaranteed, and the CPU manufacturers only officially support JEDEC speeds. If you prioritize stability over speed, this kind of RAM has a place.

May I ask a related question? My son's computer used 2x8G 3200 Crucial Ballistics memory. About 3 or 4 years old. Recently, I got him 2X32G 3600 Corsair RGB Pro DDR4 to upgrade. However, the old Crucial are not compatible with Corsair. Installing all 4 sticks and the computer won't power up. We had to sell the Crucial. Anyone knows why it happened? I never had memory problems like this before. Thanks!
