Yeah, this is probably the best deal without any trade-in needed on the S24 Ultra 512GB. Hopefully we will see better trade in deals when the S25 series launches in Jan/Feb. Without decent trade in deals, I will just rock my S22 Ultra 256GB till the wheels fall off. Haha. We have hit a point of diminishing returns when it comes to upgrading phones, so even a huge discount like the one on this deal makes it hard for me to justify upgrading.

I am on the same boat. I bought my S22 Ultra 256GB Dec 2022, so it's only been 21 months or so since I bought it. Always charged it to 85% max to save battery and only recently went full 100%.

This deal punishes you for trading in as the instant discount doesn't stack with trade in values, so the trade in values they show are not what you are actually getting. Also, the problem with trading in at Samsung is that they charge taxes on the pre-trade in value of the S24 Ultra. The no trade in instant discount reduces the taxable value of the phone.

I would say just wait for the S25 Ultra or beyond. The S22 Ultra is still such a nice phone with amazing cameras, a beautiful display, and pretty good performance. The only thing I don't like about it is the curved edges on the display, but that is not enough reason to dump it and spend $500+ to upgrade to the S24 Ultra. Now if they brought down the upgrade price to around $300, I'll bite, but not sure if that is going to happen.

I think the best thing to do is to appreciate what you have and just wait on the sidelines to jump on a deal when you really need a new phone. For those who have a really crappy phone, it makes more sense to jump on this S24 Ultra deal. Your S22 Ultra is definitely not in that category.

Sometimes we are blinded to the amazing stuff we already have in our hands because of something shiny and new out there. I hereby declare today to be the "S22 Ultra appreciation day" for you and I. Big Grin

Worked for me, just ordered S24 Ultra with 512GB for $751 and a change after taxes. Thanks for this post, I made the switch from Samsung to Pixel Pro 8 last year and totally hated it and have been looking for a good deal to get back into the Samsung space.

I would upgrade to the S24 Ultra from OP8 for sure. That would be a huge upgrade compared to going to the S24u from my S22u. You have saved enough money over the years by keeping your OP8 to justify splurging on the S24u, especially at these prices. I'd say buy the S24u and enjoy it for at least 5 years or more.

How about grabbing that $50 from the app and also using a CB website to score another 10%(upto a max of $50) ? Sounds like a win-win! :-)

I did something similar, cancelled my app order and placed a new order from desktop site. Except in my case the cb was 18% (highly ymmv and targeted offer by certain credit card's shopping rewards program).
18% in rewards is equivalent to ~150 in CB.

Oneplus 8 has underwhelming battery life, that was the main reason I got rid of it 2yrs ago. Also USB port issues. Wouldn't charge a lot of times. Otherwise speed wise it's still fine...way faster than Galaxy A54, Stylus 2024, etc.

You shouldn't upgrade just for the sake of it. Phones are depreciating assets. You either keep one till its usable life ends, or find a technique to leapfrog from one gen to next.

Oneplus phones usually have bad TIV for Samsung, so hard to do that. Might be able to get more money by selling online. Still wouldn't touch S24U unless you can name real reasons to buy it.
