The very similar Gigabyte B660M (probably almost identical to the B760M in this deal) has problems keeping up with a lowly 13400 that isn't even as fast or high-wattage as the 12700K: https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte...h_i5
The problem seems to be that the mobo has lackluster VRMs, and there is no good upgrade path since 13000 and 14000 series aren't much better than the 12000 series despite eating way more wattage and having stability issues.
I have a spare CPU cooler and fans ready to go, but it's heavy, but I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to attach it to a flimsy motherboard.
Only comes with 2x USB2 and 3x USB3 plus a USB-C on the back, which is ok at best. The real problem is no USB-C header internally, only USB-A. I was going to put this in a spare case I had with a USB-C front connector....
I It's not impossible to add more DRAM, but there is always a risk of mismatch even if one bought the exact same SKU due to these companies changing the parts/specs sometimes without notifying anyone.
It does have 2.5G ethernet but I wouldn't even use it in my living situation, as I'd have to use WiFi, which this mobo doesn't come with. So budget in the price of WiFi if you need it.
That this deal didn't already sell out after a couple of weeks says something. It's a decent deal if you are ok with potential motherboard throttling of the CPU, a cut-down BIOS (so no overclocking or much control over voltage), no WiFi built-in, no front USB-C header, and aren't going to attach a heavy CPU cooler. Also it's DDR4 not DDR5 which holds back the CPU a bit. Newegg is clearly trying to get rid of a shoddy motherboard and awkwardly-sized DDR4 (16GB is good for now but 32GB is already better and will eventually be seen as the minimum for a well-running rig), using the 12700K as bait.
Check out reviews for those. They should be fine for this cpu if you don't plan to overclock.

It looks like it has 9 phase power for the CPU. I would like a cooler on the vrm, but it isn't a deal breaker.
It comes with 2 sticks of ram, but 4 dimm. It only does dual channel so you don't have to carefully match the other 2 sticks.
It is a bummer it doesn't come with wifi or front panel USB C, but unless you're looking specifically for that it may not be a deal breaker. One good thing about desktop PCs are add in cards. You can add your own wifi or front panel USB C.
ddr4 ram is slower than ddr5. I think you take a 10% performance hit, but that's it.
I don't understand where you're getting it's a flimsy board though.
