Anyone else noticed that it is a different product listing page than the normal 800W Alternator Charger (which still has the normal $599 price, and this one says "Recommend" in the name of the product? Did they mistype "Refurbished" or "Reconditioned"? 🤨
I think this particular "product page" is an attempt to make users to buy this together with the new Delta 3 Plus. But with the shopping platform, there is no way to have a single product to have different prices based on context. My guess is they created a new "product" with "Recommended" in the title to promote. It may get fixed soon though.

With the new models coming out (e.g., Delta 3) offering more rapid car charging, I wonder if we'll continue to see prices on this product remain lower than they have been.

I'm glad you're asking these questions because I'm trying to sort all of these things out too, there's so much buzz around it making it sound like it's somehow giving you free energy or something.

I've read elsewhere that this utilizes the "excess energy" from the alternator of a vehicle as if you're somehow scraping energy that's otherwise unused... that doesn't sound right at all but comments like that in various other places and all the hype makes it misleading.

overall I think this is just something that lets you charge your unit much more quickly when out on the road and you don't have access to an AC outlet that can output high enough... it's not something that helps save money, you're not going to be getting "free" energy from "excess energy" from your alternator or anything like that.

And, from what I saw with this, yes - you'll need to wire this up to go through/around a firewall somewhere on your vehicle
Not free - your engine needs to be running in order to charge.

The perfect combo is this 800w charger + delta 2 power station + eco flow 200w foldable solar…
Got all 3 for under $1000 is a killer deal.
Last time wellbot has the delta 2 + panel for 699

Connecting this ecoflow would be a lot easier than connecting an entire Tesla to your rv's alternator

No. Car alternator is much more precious than EcoFlow anything (consider labor to repair).
This thing puts too much stress on the alternator.
You can adjust how much these things pull from 100-800W. Obviously not great to pull 800W while your car's idling with a factory alternator, but if you're actively driving (higher engine speed, faster alternator fan, better airflow), it's not as big of a deal to pull that kind of power off of it

Err, what? They're still going to be limited to ~100W if you use them with a conventional cigarette socket. Their DC/solar input is still limited to 11-60V/15A, so you'd still only be able to pull about 200W without stepping up the voltage (using something like a Victron 12-24V DC converter) or this alt charger.

My car ain't got no alternator, it has an inverter. Should I connect straight to the 12v battery?

It attaches to the battery, but draws power from the alternator.

No. To the battery and you choose in the software of when it is enabled such as above 12v, 13v, 14v, etc. Lead acid is fine above 10.5 to keep starting the car so the 12v cutoff is fine. It's actually smart enough to draw less if you choose different options so expect a lower draw (~250w) if you choose 14v+

In essence the car can be off and this will still charge until it hits the threshold and disengage.

Very useful info, thank you! Do you know the lowest voltage cutoff it allows, is it 12v?

The alternator is connected to the battery! Therefore, if you connect the EcoFlow to the battery, you're also indirectly connecting it to the alternator.

Seems to be a lot of confusion about this product. Simplistically: If you want to charge your Ecoflow in your vehicle, then you have two options:
  1. Charge from 'cigarette lighter' socket - easy, but takes many hours to fully charge.
  2. Install this device - more tricky (requiring a cable to be run from the battery to inside the vehicle), but you can then charge your EcoFlow very quickly!
