This is the shady part of "owning real gold" it goes up on paper but good luck trying to sell it easily for the higher prices.
This is just a fad like cryptocurrencies people fall for it and tie up their cash in these schemes never to see it again😆
The fad was started by the egyptians in 500 bc apparently. Should be going out of fashion soon. Also my coin shop buys these for $20 less than spot. A lot of shops pay 99%.

Should I worry about my attorney that helped prepped the estate documents?
Is your attorney sick? If so, yes, and sending a card would be an appropriate and nice gesture.

Oxford Gold wasn't a depository nor did it claim to be. It was just a sketchy middle man. We know a couple who just got scammed out of $20 million because they hired the wrong financial advisor. Happens all the time, usually no gold involved. Oxford Gold was only in the news cause the Wall St financial media hate gold.
You are correct about it not being a depository. Doesn't affect my point at all though, really

Anyone find good ways to insure these bars from theft or damage under existing homeowner's or renter's policies? I've been asking around and none of them seem to cover precious metals. Even personal article policies only cover jewelry but not gold coins.

whatever you do, please don't store your gold in a bank safety deposit box. I grew up believing that safety deposits under the bank was super secure.... learned the hard way that it wasn't always the case. also, bank do not have any coverage on stuff you store in their safety deposit boxes. Frown

That's really a question for Jake from State Farm.

I just put is somewhere safe, known only to me and a few close relatives that would be in charge of my estate plan if something were to happen to me.

If you don't have somewhere safe to store them and need to buy insurance or rent a vault, you are probably better off buying gold ETFs and keeping them in your brokerage account. Their fees will be less than your costs.
