They are spiteful and don't want to pay the company that owns the patent so they turned off the feature. Remember if it doesn't make money for them, they don't want it.

Looks like this is a US problem, in Canada both Watch 9 and 10 still advertises Blood Oxygen.

eh, I don't see a compelling reason to upgrade from my SE 44m. there's only so much a watch can do and this does everything i need it to do

Blood O2 sensor still exists in the hardware, but it is software limited only in the US. It could come back if they ever figure out a software algorithm that doesn't violate Masimo's patents.

I wonder how far away we are from seeing non-invasive CGMs that could measure glucose levels without pricking your skin? I read that Apple was working on something but it's still a long ways off. Apple Watch 20, maybe? 😁

they are not able to add blood pressure monitoring- internal leaks show apple will never have a true blood pressure reading. only a benchmark to say your blood pressure COULD be elevated. same goes for sugar, the lobbying done by glucose and BP monitoring product manufacturers prevent apple from going into that market!
