Can someone explain why this keeps getting upvoted? Literally any other 14" gaming laptop series would be downvoted if they had these specs for $899. What makes this one different?

Three things - Dell often has Amex deals ($50 to $120 cashback), and website cashback (10-12%), that brings this down to $750ish, second the Alienware is built like a tank, it's more like a Macbook than the competition. They're also very cool looking.

Having said that the wifi on our 13 month old X14 just died.

It's bad unless you are in love with the look or feel of this model because at this price range you can get better specs RTX 4060 etc. It's just high prices for what it offers spec wise, But as I stated the last time this OP posted this deal the build quality on this is above average etc.

Bought this awhile back.

- $150 Amex Cash back on using three Cards.
- $143.99 on 16% CB site
- $28.89 on Amex 3% cashback

My total with all the cashback is $640.26
Great deal if you maximized Amex Cash back Deal.

You can get a 4060 for this price, yes, but how many 14" laptops are there with it, specially that are currently available? You lot just see the GPU and complain. There's more to a laptop than just the GPU, try understanding that first.
There's only the Alienware X14, Zephyrus G14, and the Legion Slim 5 OLED that offer a gaming experience in a portable clamshell form. Out of all 3, Alienware has the best build quality, thermals and battery life. G14 has been reported to throttle and get hot (you can check the many threads that are over here). Legion Slim 5 OLED is probably the best overall out of these, but it hardly goes on sale anymore and if it does it's been $980 as the lowest just once in the past (which if my math serves me right, is more than the price over here).

2024 G14 with RTX 4060 has been $1100 as the lowest, while last years' model is hardly available in New condition and can only be found open-box YMMV. The Legion Slim 5 OLED has hardly been on sale since the past 3 months. So, I ask you again, what other 14" gaming laptops are available right now and that too at this price, and I'm not even considering the additional discounts.

I sell personal computers for a living 75% laptops 25% desktops. And of course my area could be different than other regions in regards to what people want and are willing to pay for. That being said I can count on one hand how many times somebody has specifically asked for a 14-inch gaming laptop and didn't consider 15 or 16. That being said you post a ton in this category even you should know this is a lukewarm deal and the reasons behind it due to the overall power of this unit for the price. Best wishes.

If multiple manufacturers are making 14inch gaming Laptops then it has enough demand. Anyone serious about getting a good deal doesn't shop locally a majority of the time. The alien r2 version is the latest iteration of their new chassis with the best thermals in this segment. It is a deal for someone who is specifically looking for this.

Inflated $1,700 MSRP for a i7 and 4050 is a straight up joke.
